1 year multiple entry tourist visa
Hi
I read on the website of hci that one can apply for a 1 year tourist visa for india in Colombo. Does anyone has experience with that? Or did anyone get it? I know chances are less that i will get it but still i want to try it. Also, i have question about that. How does that 1 year multiple entry tourist visa exactly work? Does it mean that after 6 months, one must leave the country, get the outgoing and incoming stamps from the airports and can go back to India (in only one day)? I mean, one does not have to go to the HCI anymore, right? Thx Greetz Jeroen |

Hi,
It doesn't look like you can apply for a multiple entry visa. At best you can get a double entry visa. The reason I say this is because if you look at the bottom of the table on the link you posted, you will see a charge for Fax Services for the single and double entry visas, but not for the multiple. These fax charges are normally made when a non-Sri Lankan National applies for a visa, and entails the consulate contacting the Indian embassy in your country of residence. As there is no such fee for multiple entry visas, this likely indicates than non-Sri Lankan Nationals/Residents may not apply for multiple entry visas. sanj

It says "Fee Structure for Sri Lankan nationals."
As a rule, you can't get different types of visas by shopping in different countries. The types of visas you are eligible for are determined by your nationality, not the office where you apply. Bottom line: you can stay six months in India at a time. Then you have to go get a new visa. There's almost no way around this. Yes, Ed. I'm still around. Glad to see IM back online! |
