1 or 10 Year Indian Visa from Bangkok for American
I am an American staying in India, and wondering of it is possible to secure a long term India visa (1, 5, or 10 year) through Bangkok. I am needing a visa longer then 6 months. My current 6 month visa, which I secured through Bangkok in July, expires this January.
Are 1, 5, or 10 year tourist visas for Americans issued "easily" through Bangkok? I almost got one in July, but did not have the two weeks to wait for it's processing. I don't know if it is common for them to be issued so easily, or if I was just lucky? My visa needs to be renewed in Jan, but I have a chance to go back to Bangkok the middle of November. I am concerned that I will only be granted a 6 month visa then I will have two months waisted. Last question: If they were to issue me a 6 month visa, can the new visa begin after the first 6 month visa expires? Example: Approved of 6 month visa in Nov, but it not being activated tell my other visa expires in Jan. Any experience or knowledge in this area? Thanks! ![]() |

The new visa will override the old visa. The clock starts ticking on the date of issue.
