Here is a decadent dessert I concocted the other night when there was hardly any food in the house, I was eating alone,Mr K at a marriage party out in the village (these are neverending at this time of the year) and felt hungry after a small dish of microwaved veggies. What remained was 1 mango and a packet of Hide and Seek chocolate chip type cookies, made in India.
So - chop mango, sprinkle with some Bournvita powder, then break up a couple of cookies into small pieces. Voila - a delicious chocolate treat with mango!! It is now mango season - so any IM's with delicious mango treats please post! |

Mango Milkshake:
Puree 4 ripe mangoes in a blender. Add 1/3 cup of superfine sugar and 3 cups of cold milk and blend until frothy and pour into glasses with crushed ice for a cool summer shake. |

Oh mangoes . . .
Ice cream . . . melt, til soft . . . add honey, herbs de provence and diced mangoes, stir into ice cream, refreeze . . . eat.
1 fifth vokda, add two cups sugarm one pound of skinned mangoes . . . put into jar, seal tight in dark closet for two months . . . take out, strain . . . drink. Take your banana bread recipe, substitute mangoes for bananas (or use half bananas and half mango), bake as usual. Eat.

If my kitchen gets finished before the mangoes are over...
If the ice-cream maker I bought in London over a year ago works... Mmmmm.....

Aishah,
when I make my mango bread, or mango-banana bread I use dried mangoes. If using fresh ones you may have to cut down on the liquid used in the bread. Papayas would work well too.
Being a margarita lover I also make a mango-rita. I just blend the mango with the tequila and some ice . . . ![]() |

I checked out your links ananda - look pretty good! Mango pie and mango halwa appeal. Thanks for tip re mango bread, Dharmabum. I don't think dried mango is available here so will cut down on liquid. I'm filing all these for future making - am off on hols. in a few days but mangoes will still be here when i come back, for a few weeks anyway - they finish around the end of July generally - so will try out all these delicious ideas! Many thanks to posters so far.

Hi,
I have a fantastic Mango recipe but it is cheating some because it uses canned Mango pulp! It is a huge hit for a desert and soo EASY to make! Mango Pudding 16 oz Cool Whip 8 oz cream cheese (make sure it is at room temp) 1 can of Mango Pulp 3 packets of Knox Gelatin 2 cups of Sugar (I use a little less...I like it more tart than sweet!) 16 oz of boiling water Directions: Mix in bowl: cool whip, mango, cream cheese - use hand beater Mix in separate bowl: gelatin, sugar, boiling water (mix very well!) Combine both bowls- Refrigerate for 24 hours before serving. Enjoy! |
