Leftover Tandoori Chicken suggestions?
Anyone got any whizz bang recipes they might care to share? currently I'm cooking up a tandoori chicken frittata/omlette, and am a little dubious of the outcome, so thought I should see what others have to share...

lolIn my house, Tandoori Chicken never lasts long enough for me to know an answer to this question. ![]() However, one way that I LOVE to have it is to take it off the bone and wrap it in a thin roti (or a tortilla when I'm in the US). Pour some chutney on it if you have it, or just lemon, onion, cilantro. Wrap it up and have it like a fusion taco. I thought I invented it, but then when I came to India, I saw people having chicken this way a lot, especially at fast food stalls. So you might have already thought of that. If you don't have chutney and you want to make some, here is what I put in the blender: lemon, coriander, mint, onion, a small chili pepper, a tiny bit of ginger and some yogurt You'll have to play around with the quantities of each one depending on your preferences. It's easy to make. |

I guess there is a dish called, Chicken Tikka masala. Just make a gravy and cook the chicken with it.

Yes Carlaeb, I thought it was odd too that I had so much of it left over?! I think it was one of those nights when my eyes were MUCH bigger than my stomach
...umm....might happen a bit here... Normally I'm left sitting sucking my fingers for that last bit of flavour. Chutney chicken wrap sounds super tasty (man I loove green chutney), was debating buying a blender and a juicer, just wanted to see how long I'd be staying on here for... Capt -no booze in the house?! OH I LIE I do have some red wine...just no bottle opener, so might just sit and stare at it for a while. . At least I think someone's going to give me some beer tomorrow for some Holi celebrationsFrittata was okay, but was lacking fresh peas and corn that a veg one had that I whipped up the other day. I think India has very much changed my cooking skills...and my English too Next time I might order extra, as I have a pattie kind of idea brewing...with chutney on the side of course. |

Hmmm go go Gadget screwdriver. but my poor flat head screwdriver is at the English boozehound's new pad...and now that I think about it she left her bottleopener at her old place... so I'm guessing she's opening the wine bottles in true go go Gadget style as we type. but I think the cork on this bottle will definitely end up falling apart even when opened with a corkscrew, so then I'll have to strain the wine
I will have to crack it one day soon and see how it is, its been gathering dust since Christmas ![]() Oh yes -and I can't even open a beer bottle with a lighter/bench or similar hard surface..but I will give the screwdriver wine bottle opener a go and report back Last edited by AusE : Mar 10th, 2009 at 22:25. I can't really imagine there being leftovers either, but if such a thing happened here, due to our cats not liking chicken (fish only for them) our crows would be the beneficiaries.
They would take it just as it is, so no worries about recipes, though their own preparation might include leaving it in the birds' water bowl for a few hours. |

peel off left-overs from bone and cut into as-equal-a-pieces as you can.
heat - either in microwave or tawa or flat pan [cover with lid in low flame[ remove from flame squeeze lime over heated pieces serve with onion rings + refreshment of choice its a great hors d'œuvre... as mentioned previously. :brishti |

Tandoori Chicken Salad
Take the chicken off the bones. Shred the chicken with your fingers, or cut it into bite-size chunks. Add raisins, and broken walnut pieces. Stir in some mayonnaise -- not too much!
This makes a graet lunch. I sometimes eat this as a sandwich on good crusty bread, but that may be difficult to find where you are.

Take chicken off the bones and then shred it. Cut onions in half rings, some garlic mashed as well as julienne some ginger, carrots. Cut some beans and slices of green bell peppers (shimla mirch) and if you can find get some bean sprouts (wash them and drain immediately). Cook some noodles or pasta - drain and stir fry all of the above with some chopped green chilles (hari mirchi) - and viola with a dash of spy sauce you have a nice dish.

According to my better half Shashank's version is exactly what most India restaurants in the US do..
