Jungle Juice
2 Large Lemons or 3 indian about 1/- ea
1lb sugar or less if you prefer 1 1/2 pints boiling water 1 desertspoon citric acid 1 desertspoon epsom salts 1 teaspoon tartaric acid grate and squeeze lemons to sugar add boiling water. Leave to cool ,add acids. Stand overnight , strain and bottle.Dilute with water to taste. KEEP IN THE FRIDGE Note Cirtic acid I have found available in S India, ditto Epsom salts, sold under its chemical name, but[ NOT tartaric acid, available in UK]. it is a delicious refreshing drink on a hot indian day. If our fridge has a freezing space big enough, keep some s/s tumblers in it with about an inch of water in the bottom, most of them stack, and you have a ready chilled glass with ice. Even better if you can find them, seem them both in India and UK are 'frosty glasses' beer type plastic mugs with an inner and outr skin with water in the middle which freezes,,, exrta cold drinks then |
