thanks - what do you think are the chances i can find tea from Myanmar in London, SHIMLA? pls keep the suggestions coming! and more down to earth. I have never heard abt Lopchu tea, where is it from? most of the sales staff in speciality tea stores in London have never been east of Aldwych. (may be i should try the Indian market of Whitechapel)

I really wouldn't know about the chances of your finding Myanmar Tea in London, volga!
Try to find "Pinsali green tea", from Myanmar, at any of the supermarkets in London. If you can't find any, then I'll send you some from here! ![]()

i sniffed all teas in Whittard speciality store (London) and some other airports over last weekend, but coudn't get any closer to kahwa tea!!
the only teas they usually have in Europe are from China, mainstream India/SLanka and Japan... no Myanmar tea for sure (me thinks ban on import?) any more suggestions? i am bumping the thread back on top ![]() |

VV you've probably already thought of this but instead of speciality tea stores. Why don't you just get yourself down to the nearest Asian area of london and sniff around some of the common garden corner shops.
look at it this way even if you don't find the tea you need it will be a little taste of India for the homesick!! And I bet you don't come home completely empty handed, perhaps a few more SRK DVDs a jar of pickle............. |

SHIMLA, that's a deal!! you send me Myanmar tea and i send you whatever you wish to get from London (within reason! sorry i don't think chocolate would stand a trip to the Asian heat this summer). i wouldn't accept any one-way donations.
ps we need a new thread, for goods exchange - ? |

In return I'll like the following: 1. Big Ben 2. Madam Tussaud's Museum 3. Sherlock Holmes' Museum 4. Regent's Park 5. The Tower Bridge Is it fair enough? A new thread for goods exchange is a fine idea, if Mike won't ban us all from posting any further; as this is essentially a travel forum ! |

Indian markets in Whitechapel? Has someone been pulling your leg? Wembley, Ealing road, Southall, Ilford..... but not Whitechapel. I suppose you could try Brick Lane, Whitechapel, there are some good shops there (All Bangladeshi).

Ha Ha
I remember them days, oh such sweet memories. How times change. I suppose you could try Brick Lane, Whitechapel, there are some good shops there (All Bangladeshi). If you do, get off the tube at Aldgate East, and use the exit at the front of the train, turn left as you pass through the ticket hall, then turn left as you exit the station, the next turning on the left is Brick Lane, though the first part of it is not called Brick Lane, the sign says 'leading to Brick Lane'. Don't be tempted to try a curry in Brick Lane, most places are for the '10 pint's and a Vindaloo' crowd. Tayyab's is just around the corner and the place is just amazing, the Punjabi food is so good that you will have to queue on a friday. |
