A very unusual dessert

This is a very unusual recipe considering the fact that this dessert is made with onions.
You need:
2 large onions.
1 Lemon.
4 table spoons of Raisins.
60gms sugar.
3 table spoons of Pistachios.
1 litre of Milk.
A little rose water.

Peel the onions & slice them in to rings. Soak these rings at least for 4 hours in water with the juice of the lemon. Drain & boil the rings in fresh water twice changing the water.
Peel the pistachios. Soak them in water for half an hour before peeling.
Heat milk with sugar over low flame stirring till it becomes a bit thickish. Add the raisins, pistachios & the onion rings. Boil the mixture for some time. Take it off the stove & sprinkle rose water & serve warm.
Happy Diwali.

Very unusual

Never heard of such a thing. Very unusual indeed.

Is it traditional? What's the local name?
