WL 29. Any chance that this will get confirmed?

Hi All,

I am back with my 'any chance?' questions. (Though I seldom blog, feels bad that I come here only for clarifications- Will make it a point to visit and blog,before the next time I ask a doubt )

I have a SL ticket which has WL# 29 for Udyan Express (Train no 6530)for departure on Thursday, May 15,2008,from Bangalore to Mumbai. Does anybody have any idea that this will come to RAC status or hopefully get confirmed?

It means you have moved from WL151 to WL29. Udyan Exp. is very very popular train and it is the holiday season. Most cancellations take place before 3 days of travel date. Your ticket may get confirmed in RAC if you are lucky.
Look for alternate arrangement like budget flights if possible.

Agree, you should get to RAC, but that will only get you a seat, not a berth, there are at the very least 62 RAC positions, so you need at least 91 further cancellations to get a confirmed berth, so virtually no chance of a confirmed berth.

Try buying a ticket using the Tatkal quota, at the moment it's WL 4/WL 4 for the 15th, but there are 2 Tatkal carriages, so WL4 has a reasonable chance of becoming confirmed.

Hi Jyotirmoy,

I dont think it means that. When I booked it 3 days back,it was showing Booking status 151 and current status 36 (or maybe 35). The current status has changed from 36 to 29 and I have 3 more days to go.Whenever we book WL tickets it shows 2 WL numbers. I dont understand what the 2 numbers are.

I was writing my previous post when you replied.Does it mean that I got to 29 from 151? I think it went from 36 to 29. Please enlighten me.

If I have to wait for 91 more cancelations, I think I will have to take the tatkal or a flight.

Jyoti is correct, you were the 151st person to join the waitlist, but there had already been 115 cancellations, so your 'current' (I prefer actual) waitlist position was 36 when you bought the ticket, after 6 more cancellations you're now at WL29.

If, by some miracle the waitlist did go right down, you'd find out your berth by going to the Sleeper Class-RAC/waitlist reservation chart on the platform, you'd find out your carriage and seat/berth by looking for WL151 on the form.

Confusing isn't it.

I hope this helps to explain why you have 2 numbers.

It shows WL 9 now - Journey for today evening. I think it will get to RAC atleast,right?

##When you booked the status was 151/29 which subsequently became 151/9; here the difference is 142.

##But, after you, 77 more have got into the waiting list but again, 22 of them withdrew, hence the current status is 228/64; the difference is 164.
