I'm looking at booking a 1AC ticket from Mumbain to Sawai Madhopur. The Mumbail/Delhi Rajdhani Express 12953 stops at Sawai Madhopur but system shows only 2AC available, no 1AC. But I can book 1AC if I book the full route to Delhi.

(Other than the extra expense) is it okay to book to Delhi & get off in Sawai Madhopur?

Yes it should not be an issue if you get down at any station before the destination

There may be quota restrictions or distance restrictions.

As mentioned above you can get down any where before the destination that you have booked.

It will be as aarosh says, there are sometimes complicated restrictions on certain long distance trains. For example, from a busy station, folk might want to travel just a few dozen miles on the very busy network. If they are allowed to book those short hops on a long distance express, it stops the folk needing the longer run of the train's journey from traveling.
No problem to alight before your booked destination... but do check the trains actually stop at your intended station, not all trains stop at all major stations!

I was reading another of your posts about itinerary and train safety. If that's the reason for 1AC, be assured that mumbai delhi route is safe for 2AC

oh - yes that makes sense - hadn't considered how bad that would muck things up.

That's good to hear. In addition to actual safety, I also need my brain's instinctual centers register a place as safe so I don't stay on alert. Even a non-locking door would leave me more 2AC inclined.
