What is W/L 1 in irctc status shown in ticket?
What is W/L 1 in irctc status shown in ticket?
When I booked the status was W/L 59, below that acronyms are given like REGRET|W/L1= No more booking Permitted.
I need to travel tomorrow night from Bangalore to haveri. Bit confused like only one seat is waiting or its regretting now
?

Regret/wl1 means no more bookings are accepted.
It could have been Better...if you would have shared the Train details which you are planning to board and As the Ticket has been already booked from your side..check the link below with your PNR number and get the current status....Might have confirmed now...

It indeed means the seat is waitlisted, and there's no more movement on that waitlist; save for perhaps among those who are already waitlisted. It would have started off as being waitlisted at place 59, now there's no more chance of it ever becoming available, so indeed the waitlist is closed, hence indeed "regret W/L1" (I agree it's a very vague description and it causes plenty of confusion, but there you have it).
Waitlist numbers will normally show two numbers, so let's say W/L 81/23; the first is where you joined the list, the second is your current status. You (or rather the Indian Railways) need two parameters to make the system work, so where you got on the list, and how you're progressing. (That first number will never change; it's what you're progressing against, and it would if it works eventually read W/L 81/CNF, so confirmed, that seat is now yours. The second number giving your current status would of course be meaningless if it wasn't related to where on the list you got on.)
But so "regret" etc. means all bets are off. You'll have to look for another ride to get a reserved seat.
It is effectively saying the waitlist is closed, and there's still one seat on the waitlist. It could also have read again "regret/WL 15" or so, but anyway the effect to you as a passenger would be the same.
I agree again btw this is all hard to follow and it could have been better defined by the Indian Railways, I don't find it easy, but this is the logic it goes by.

No, sorry; it used to be you could enlarge images here, but now they come out in a standard size. I'd need to download it then enlarge it myself.Besides, I'm really not good at determining waitlist options and stuff (that is to say: I really can't); I just described the general system as I know it to you. There's this thread for it: Post your waitlist questions here ONLY.
It would of course and as described matter is it Waitlist 1, or Regret/Waitlist 1, as you originally said.

That what it means as far as your ticket is concerned. So best wishes and Happy Diwali.
My ticket has been confirmed today morning. Am traveling to my native.
There is a difference between Regret/WL1- Not at all possible and W/L 1- Waiting list 1.
Thanks for giving your suggestion here, and thanks to Indiamike team.
Happy Diwali to you all
