Dear exogeneric,

which needs requesting the TTE to extend the part 1 of my ticket upto BSB, I hope he would oblige.

##He is bound to extend your ticket by collecting the applicable sleeper class fare from Mughalsarai to Varanasi.

##If you find that your HWH-MGS Berths are allotted to somebody else boarding from MGS, please request the TTE that you will manage till BSB.

##Get your HWH-MGS ticket extended upto BSB before you arrive in MGS.

##The TTEs and the Loco Staff would change in MGS.

Oh, I didn't know that's not allowed.

I will travel from HWH to KLK in 2311 Kalka mail. As I saw that HWH-KLK 2AC had only 1 available berth, I have booked HWH-DLI and then DLI-KLK, and each of these are from 2different quotas (I guess, should be).

I have two tickets with 2 different PNRs and they're on 2 different coaches.

Is such booking not allowed? How will IR track such cases?

IR has got Rs. 600 approx more from me for this breakup

- but I'm fine as I got my desired berths (both lower as I will have my baby), why should they bother?

On reading your post again, it would seem that you've booked the same train (Doon Exp) for both sections of the journey, and as far as I'm aware, this isn't allowed.

##In the instant case, one booking is for HWH-MGS and the other one is for BSB-HW.

##I assume these two tickets must have been purchased through the IRCTC!!!

Dear Steven,

##I have reserved One Seat in IIS by 2635 for my journey from Villupuram to Tiruchirapalli Jn. and I got Seat No.66 in D5 Coach, and the date of journey was 12.9.2009.

##After few days, as there was a slight deviation in my travel plan, I had to reserve One Seat in IIS by 2635 for my journey from Egmore to Villupuram and I got Seat No.12 in D-5 Coach for the same date.

##The same TTE checked my tickets.

Yes, all the tickets I am writing about in here were booked through the IRCTC site only.

##I am afraid, a passenger cannot reserve a ticket like this in the same train. For example,

Train Number...........3009......... ......SL Class
23.9.2009.....Howrah to Haridwar Resv.upto MGS
24.9.2009.....Varanasi to Haridwar

##In the above examples both the reservations will have to be made on a single PNR, wherein the passenger would also be getting the Telescopic benefit.

##Likewise, if a passenger is breaking his journey st a particular station, that is, by writing the words RESV.UPTO____,
he CANNOT continue his onward journey in the same train, upto his destination.

Yesterday, my uncle approached the PRS Counter for a reservation like this:

The reason for refusal was given as: 471 goes to VSKP and hence he cannot get down from 471 and take the subsequent train, which terminates in VSKP.

The point which the clerk had overlooked is, after RJY, the 429 overtakes 471 and arrives in VSKP much earlier than 471, so that my uncle could have got into the connecting train whose scheduled departure is 8.10 hrs.

VSP/Steven,

In my case, I have 2 tickets (separate PNR and coach) booked from IRCTC in the same train as I was not getting through reservation due to less availability in the HWH-KLK quota.

The tickets are:

HWH-DLI boarding HWH, reserved upto DLI
DLI-KLK boarding DLI, reserved upto KLK

Is that allowed? More importantly, how will IR track such usage?

Is there any other way in which I could get a better fare (less than the cost of HWH-DLI+DLI-KLK tickets)?

Dear Indracal,

Since, you have Two PNRs, you can continue with your journey.

Had you made this booking as Kalka to HWH with RESV.upto DLI and then DLI-HWH in the same train and on the same date, then the PRS would NOT have permitted you, as it amounts to two bookings on the same PNR and in the same train.

##If you have a confirmed tickets from Howrah to Varanasi, then majority of your problem is solved. It would NOT be a surprise, if your HWH-BSB Berths do not turn in your favour for your BSB-HW Journey.

If I cancel the 2 WL berths of my previous booked tickets for which status is WL1 & WL2,will the RAC status of the remaining 4 berths be lost? Or, that woulD still be retained?

Dear exogeneric,

Most probably, the GAYA-HW Remote Location Quota might include the berths earmarked for DHN-HW Journey; AND the BSB-HW Remote Location Quota might include the berths earmarked for MGS-HW Journey.

##The Remote Location Charts for DHN/GAYA/MGS/BSB will be finalised at about 8.00 p.m. on the previous day night itself, that is, in your case, it will be 23rd September.

##The biggest nuisance is "cancelling an E-Ticket AFTER Chart Preparation" because, if you do this, you will help neither yourself nor somebody else, below you, in the Waiting List.

##As of now, we cannot predict whether the remaining two in the Remote Location Waiting List for MGS-HW Journey would move into RAC or not, but all those in BSB-HW RAC can certainly get into the train; and who knows, they might even get confirmed.

##Moreover, the 3009 departs from HWH at 20.35 hrs. I am NOT sure whether you will carry laptop with you & even if you carry whether Internet will be available or not.

##I am not sure whether you have made up your mind to retain the MGS-HW Journey ticket till you arrive in MGS, to avoid the journey in the unreserved coaches on MGS-BSB stretch (17Kms.)

##Otherwise, it would be fine, if you can shelve MGS-HW Ticket now itself and extend your HWH-MGS Tickets upto BSB in the Train!!!

vsp27759 V.SRINIVASA PRASAD Join Date: May 2005 Location: HYDERABAD Posts: 2,732	Dear exogeneric, Most probably, the GAYA-HW Remote Location Quota might include the berths earmarked for DHN-HW Journey; AND the BSB-HW Remote Location Quota might include the berths earmarked for MGS-HW Journey. ##The Remote Location Charts for DHN/GAYA/MGS/BSB will be finalised at about 8.00 p.m. on the previous day night itself, that is, in your case, it will be 23rd September. ##The biggest nuisance is "cancelling an E-Ticket AFTER Chart Preparation" because, if you do this, you will help neither yourself nor somebody else, below you, in the Waiting List. ##As of now, we cannot predict whether the remaining two in the Remote Location Waiting List for MGS-HW Journey would move into RAC or not, but all those in BSB-HW RAC can certainly get into the train; and who knows, they might even get confirmed. ##Moreover, the 3009 departs from HWH at 20.35 hrs. I am NOT sure whether you will carry laptop with you & even if you carry whether Internet will be available or not. ##I am not sure whether you have made up your mind to retain the MGS-HW Journey ticket till you arrive in MGS, to avoid the journey in the unreserved coaches on MGS-BSB stretch (17Kms.) ##Otherwise, it would be fine, if you can shelve MGS-HW Ticket now itself and extend your HWH-MGS Tickets upto BSB in the Train!!!
