I too wish they provide all details. I'm not defending them. Hope we get proper details in the future.

Rs.20/- per head will be deducted, and the balance SHALL be refunded to the Bank Account, provided they DO NOT MOVE into Confirmed Status before Charting.

Hello All,

I have a query on Tatkal Waitlist. I have noticed that Tatkal Waitlist have higher Priority than General Waitlist.

Not long time back I had tickets booked on GNWL and also on CKWL for a Train.

The GNWL was a lower number and was booked much earlier than the CKWL waitlist. The GNWL only reached RAC but the CKWL did get confirmed.

I think there is much higher priority to CKWL passengers and also may be the final seats released from other quota (at CHART prepartaion) get used up for CKWL.

Your comments and inputs please.

Cheers,
Shripal

You have to remember that GNWL has to pass thru RAC to reach CNF, while CKWL does not have RAC. So for the same WL number in both CK will reach CNF faster than GNWL.

Again No, from what I remember in a post by VSP our train expert, GNWL and CKWL alternately use the available seats if any. Have to dig that post out

##This 'fact' is printed even in the SZTT.

Shripalj,

##But, I have seen Charts, on more than one occasion, when some of the passengers in CKWL WERE dropped, whereas 'none' WAS droppped from GNWL!!!!

Dear vsp

On 23.12.2010 at 13149 Kanchankanya Exp for journey from SDAH to DLO at Sleeper Class, I noticed strange thing. It had WL 270 before I opted for tatkal ticket on 21.12.2010 which indeed was a confirmed one (time 08.03 am) but surprised to see the chart at the time of boarding.

It had CKWL40 till the last one at TATKAL but GNWL 346 till the last one, some of them bought ticket on even 23.12 morning.

Upto CKWL 13 got confirmed leaving more than 27 CKWL passengers.

But upto GNWL 75 got confrmed and Upto GNWL 343 got RAC leaving only 3 passengers. Only one extra coach SE1 was added. So misery for Tatkal passengers...

Some questions:-

1. Extra coach when added, is there any preference given to CKWL passengers?

2. When does the railways decide to add extra coaches? at the time of chart preparation? As I have not noticed significant development to my WL status until Chart Preparation.

3. I noticed several HO quotas in the GNWL list which were confirmed but the preceding were either RAC or not confirmed. What quota is this? Is it Head Ofice quota for VIPs?

4. If I want to write letter to Railways siting my emergency (may be medical) for my WL ticket to be confirmed, then whom should I address?

Thanks in advance.

##"Some" preference is given, but not much. If it is "much", then 27 CKWL Passengers would not have got dropped!!!

2. When does the railways decide to add extra coaches? at the time of chart preparation? As I have not noticed significant development to my WL status until Chart Preparation.

##This is done keeping in view the Waiting List figures and also the requests for Release of Berths under HO". More or less, a decision is taken only just before Charting.

##But one thing. The Authorities which provide the Rake will also have to provide the "extra coach", but Extra Coach will NOT BE added at the Station, where the Train terminates.

##For example, the SCR will NOT add Extra Coach to 8646 East Coast Express, but this is the job of SER.

3. I noticed several HO quotas in the GNWL list which were confirmed but the preceding were either RAC or not confirmed. What quota is this? Is it Head Ofice quota for VIPs?

##This is called "Head Office" Quota which will be under the control of Railway Authorities, which is utilised to clear the requests from VIPs & Railway Officials. The vacant berths in this Quota will be utiliosed to clear CKWL/GNWL.

4. If I want to write letter to Railways siting my emergency (may be medical) for my WL ticket to be confirmed, then whom should I address?

##If it is Headquarters of the Zone, then, it is the Assistant Commercial Manager (General). If it is Divisional Headquarters, then it is the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager.

##For example, the 2737 Goutami departs from Kakinada. If a Berth under EQ is needed, then the letter should be addressed to Sr.DCM/BZA, because Kakinada comes under Vijayawada Division of SCR.
Thanks in advance.
##I hope the above replies would clear your doubts.

1. Rs. Cancellation Charges same as General WL e-ticket + IRCTC Booking Charges.
2. Fully WL'ed e-tickets gets automatically cancelled. You need to file TDR for Partially confirmed e-tickets.
