Waitlisted Tatkal & Cancellation

Hi all,

I have booked my ticket from Coimbatore - Chennai in Chennai express, i have booked an AC Chair car ticket and i booked it under tatkal which is being wait listed at CKWL 7

My query is what would happen if it does not get confirmed and what is the time frame within which i can cancel it? My date of journey is on 9th march 2009, and how much would be duducted for a tatkal wait listed ticket?

kindly let me know

Dear seasms,

I am afraid you have already raised this query in another topic.
----
For a Waitlisted Ticket which is NOT confirmed DURING CHARTING, a minimum of Rs.20/- will be deducted towards CLERKAGE. The Time-limit varies upon the distance to which the ticket is booked.

Tatkal Waitlisted

I have 2 quaries about Tatkal tickets.

If we book a tatkal waitlisted ticket, What are the chances to get it confirmed over GNWL ?

CKWL or GNWL, which gets prefrence to get confirmed ?

or both have their seprate quota ?

If I want to cancel waitlisted Tatkal ticket, will I get full amount refund after deduction of clerical charges.

It primarily depends on the number of seats that are alloted to Tatkal (CK) quota in a train. It also depends on the class and date of travel (weekend travels as well as AC classes have fewer instances of cancellations). Generally as a thumb rule, upto CKWL 3 gets confirmed. In case of Sleeper class, depending on the quota and the destinations, 25-30 CK WLs get confirmed.

Both CKWL and GNWL have separate quotas. CKWL gets confirmed against cancellations in CK quota whereas GNWL get confirmed against GN quota and other unused quotas which are merged into GN quota before charting

If I want to cancel waitlisted Tatkal ticket, will I get full amount refund after deduction of clerical charges.

Yes, Rs. 20 would be deducted towards clerical charges and the balance amount including Tatkal Charges would be refunded.

Thank you Travel Lover

I think it is better to get a GNWL ticket instead of CKWL , coz if Tatkal confirmed passanger cancel their ticket... they will get only 25% of amount then , so chances are less

In GNWL confirmation will be easier .... Hope I am right

Ashu,

It all depends on what is the running number of waitlist in both GNWL or CKWL. If it is CKWL 20 and if the quota is only 20, then no need to book it. If it is GNWL 200 and CKWL 5, it is worth taking the chance with CKWL.

Trilok,

Welcome to Indiamike.

We do not have a crystal ball to tell whether a CKWL ticket will get confirmed or not. All I can say is, it would get confirmed, provided the 10 passengers who have confirmed tatkal tickets or in waitlist before you cancel.

Otherwise, it is next to impossible to confirm whether the tickets would get confirmed or not.

In case you hold a e-ticket, please note that you cannot get into the train.

Sir, all are first timers in Indiamike.. Somebody tells them, check in the Indian Railways forum of Indiamike and your ticket may get confirmed and hence are giving details whatever they wish to.

Dear Arun,

Agreed Sir, that they are first timers and that they are joining India Mike only to raise a query about the status of their Waitlisted Ticket, and afterwards most of them vanish!!!
-------------
Don't they look at their tickets, once it is printed OR taken out of the PRS Counter?
-----------
Long back, I have also prepared a proforma for the benefit of first-timers. Since they did not evince much interest in using the same, I have decided not to request them to use the proforma.
===========
OK. Just because, it is GIMB-KYQ you said 5667. Had it been a query about BRC-NZM, how would you have decided the Train Number? :-)
=============
##If all the particulars are NOT furnished, let us ask these first timers to furnish them. I feel, there is nothing wrong, in doing so!!!
