| waiting room at new jalipaiguri stn i am travelling from mumbai to new jalpaiguri. the train arrives late in the middle of the nite at around 01:20 at new jalpaiguri. I am wondering whether i should be venturing out in the middle of the nite for a hotel room or possibly stay in the waiting room at njp. my concern is: is it safe staying in the waiting room for almost 7 hrs as i would be taking the toy train we are a family of three 2 adults, 1 teenage. If we can wait at the stn, is there any refreshment room at the railway stn whr u can take yr bath n change kindly help. |

The above link shows the latest train arrived at New Jalpaiguri 04:40 hours late (that would be perfect for you). |

| Is taking a flight to kolkatta n thn taking a train to njp more convenient? In that case which is the best train to reach new jalpaiguri. may be a break journey via kolkatta?. my toy train starts at 8.30 in the morning. Is taking a flight from mumbai to kolkatta more convenient? i booked trains bcoz i thought its direct thnx |

| If you fly to Kolkatta, then get the Darjeeling Mail (train 2343, Sealdah 22.05, NJP 08.00) The toy train is a booked connection, so it waits for the Darjeeling Mail if it's running late. If you can't get availability on the Darjeeling Mail, and you're travelling Sleeper Class, let me know, I know a little trick with this train. |

| oh mr. steven ber, thanks a lot for your replies. they are all booked and waitlist is around 40, 50 n i have already booked himalayn princess at 8.30 which only has first class. By the way let me know how this himlayan princess toy train is and how different is it from the other toy train except for the few stations that it halts at. i had also booked for the toy train but wait list is 14,15,16 which is unlikely to get confirmed. thanks alot but still may i know the trick, just incase as suggested if i decide to take the darjeeling mail n try getting the sleeper class? |

| Dear Mr. Ber, There is a train known as himalayan princess, you can go to the indian railway site and under category tourist train you'll find booking of such trains including joy rides which you can book at IRCTC www.irctc.co.in. the train stops at kurseong for 2 hours and leaves at 3 reaches darjeeling at 18:00 kindly check. thanks & regards, Last edited by lakshthorat; Apr 20th, 2009 at 16:43.. |
