Wait List query please help

Hello,

I have booked 2 tickets of 2A from Miraj Junction to Bhopal Junction for 09-May-2008 and return ticket (2A) on 17-May-2008 .

The ticket status are WL 5/6 and WL 7/8 respectively for last 15 days.

Can you please inform me if those will get confirmed.

Kindly help.

Not at the moment, the reservation computer has gone to bed for the night.

All you have to do, is do a search for Miraj - Bhopal, select the Goa Express, then check availability for 3 months time, the last few days that bookings are allowed (about about 29th July) should show how many berths are allowed for the Miraj - Bhopal sector, so then you know the likelihood of there being sufficient cancellations.

Without looking, I'd guess that Miraj - Bhopal could be part of a pooled quota, and the number of 2A berths in that pooled quota could be very low, maybe 4 in total, but this is a wild guess and I'm probably wrong.

Thanks for ur reply.

I would like to say once again that I have booked ticket for that sector and status is W/L-4&5.
Now I want to know how can I get it confirmed without just waiting for it to happen.

Seeking your help.

Thanks again.

You can't, you just have to wait and see what happens, I've already suggestyed a way to find out the likelyhood of getting confirmed berths.

Thanks again.

It seems u r wel aware of all the rule and regulations of india railway. It is very impressive.

I have one more question.

I have booked i-ticket for the mentioned sector.

If I want to buy "tatkal" using the same W/L ticket (from kolhapur station and not from internet)
When can I buy it? How to buy it and what is the way to have the best chances of buying it.

Can I buy it from kolhapur station using i-ticket? How much extra I will have to pay?

Regards,

First, there's 16 berths sold before a waitlist ticket is issued for the sector you're traveling on, so a WL/4-5 ticket has a reasonable chance of becoming a confirmed ticket.

Tatkal, it would cost a fortune (Rs2348 per person) for a Tatkal reservation as you have to book for the full length of the trains journey and then pay a high Tatkal charge, you'd need to book the Tatkal tickets 5 days before the train departs from Vasko station (not including date of journey), and you'd need to be at Kolhapur station's reservation office very early, be first in the queue and book the Tatkal tickets (with boarding point changed to Miraj Jn), there are only 4 berths in the Tatkal quota for 2A.

You can't use an I-ticket or E-ticket as part payment, you'd have to first buy the Tatkal tickets, then if you get confirmed Tatkal berths, then and only then cancel your original tickets.

Here's an option that would only cost you 2 hours.

Train 1012 departs Kolhapur at 20.30 and gets to Kalyan at 06.18 (2A - 9- 5-2008=AVAILABLE- 0014)

Train 2534 departs Kalyan at 09.15 and gets to Bhopal at 21.45 (2A - 10- 5-2008=AVAILABLE- 0010)

I'm sure similar trains could be found for the return journey.

And Train 2618, Bhopal 19.55, Ratnagiri 14.35 seems like an option worth considering, though the railway reservation computer has just gone to sleep for the night, so I can't check availability for this train.
