Write to care@irctc.co.in.

They should respond to you in case of any refund.

You seem to have a booked a Manual ticket from the counter, right? AFAIK, the care@irctc ID is for people who has e-tickets.

Could you check with the Stn/Master at Bangalore? If you're at Mangalore, check out there itself. If they can't help, try to get the contact number of BLR station master.

I was looking up the IR site on Refund policies. The case that closely matched your scenario is (excerpt):

"REFUND ON TATKAL TICKET:

Full refund of fare and Tatkal Charges will be granted on the tickets booked under this scheme:

If the train is to run on diverted route and the passenger is not willing to travel; boarding station or the destination station or both the stations are not on the diverted route."

This is probably a little confusing, but you can go through this link, and visit your nearest station master to know the rules!

Indracal,

My mistake. I didn't read OP's post properly. You are right - he has to approach the station master / ticket superintendent of any station.

Surprising.

People register and post a query for an issue which could be sorted out by visting IR website or walking in to the nearest reservation centre.

raju,

This is nothing. If you see the sticky thread of W/L ticket, there are people who create account just to ask whether the ticket would be confirmed or not. Believe me, 75% of the postings are by new members. I think someone is spreading a rumour that we can "influence" and get "tickets confirmed". If that was the case, I wont be working like a donkey

Exclamation E-ticket cancellation after journey through TDR

In case someone has to take refund of an e-ticket (cancellation after train left), he needs to login to his IRCTC account and select the "File TDR" option from there within 30 days of the planned journey date. I understand, partial cancellation is also possible.

More details is available at http://www.irctc.co.in/cgi-bin/bv60....FiletdrProc.do

TDR status tracking is also possible online, and the amount will be refunded back to the credit card/debit card which was used to buy this. The claim processing takes at least 90 days or more, courtesy Indian Railways red tapes!

CAUTION: A few banks provide disposable virtual Credit cards, which exists for a stipulated period and amount (e.g. HDFC NetSafe), and they can't be used fraudulently.

However, if you used such cards to buy a train ticket which you didn't undertook, you're gone for a big soup! The card won't exist by the time you get the claim processed!!!

Dear Indracal,

##I furnish below a relevant extract from the Refund Rules:
-------------
Dislocation of train services enroute:

a) Inability of Railways to make alternate arrangements

Amount payable:

a) Full fare paid for the entire booked journey.
-----------
##In this case, the ticket has to be surrendered to the Station Master where the Train got terminated.
============================== ===============
##But, when the Railways make alternate arrangements, and the passenger is NOT willing to avail them, then Fare for the travelled portion will be retained and the balance will be refunded, once the ticket is surrendered.

OK, as landslide stopped the train to go further in this case, then the OP should have asked the Sankeshpur (termination point) Station master/Commercial officer for a proportionate refund, right?

It is obvious from his post that he didn't do so; so will it be possible to submit it at his nearest station or he has to travel to terminating station for claiming refund?

In the 2nd case, he might just sleep over it!

Very true! But we are kinda passionate about replying, aren't we? Even in this case, the OP didn't come back (last logon Jul 18 as of now!), though we can go on and on and on....

A vehement "Yes" to Arun and Nick! But at the same time, a person new to India (or planning to travel to India) might find this info handy - and if (s)he has read this thread and the train is stopped at a godforsaken station, the first thing he would do is to run to the station master for a refund!

At least I am posting in that hope to this thread! Am I misplaced in my thought process?

Even if 5/10 person get help that way, it is fine for me. Given the registered and unregisterd users of IM, I guess I am not asking for the Moon!

I'm sure it helps that way!
