Hi,

I am due to take my first trip to India next week and I'm trying to iron out my itinerary. I would like to travel from Udaipur to Jodhpur but research has shown there are no direct trains.

As I get bad motion sickness, I would prefer to avoid long bus trips.

If anyone has a good suggestion of a route to get there it'd be appreciated!! I have a bit of time to play with and am happy to make a stop over enroute. I have 42 days in total - my proposed itinerary is below.

1 day Delhi
5 nights Rishikesh
3 nights Varanassi
1 night Delhi (to meet a friend)
1 night Agra
2 night Bharatpur
3 night Jaipur
3 nights Pushkar
3 nights Udaipur
3 nights or so in Jodhupur
3 nights Jaislamer
3 nights Shekawati Bikanar
2 day Delhi

Thanks for the info! I am aware there is no direct route, but I'm hoping someone can make a suggestion about a stop over to break up the trip and avoid buses.

Cheers,
Natalie

Dear kismet79,

If that is the case, please travel by train from Jodhpur to Marwar. (108Kms.)
-----
There are only two passenger trains from Marwar Jn. to Mavli Jn. (152Kms.) I shall provide the timings.
---
From Mavli Jn., you need to take another train to reach
Udaipur (43Kms.)

Or change your route.

Quote:
2 night Bharatpur
3 night Jaipur
3 nights Pushkar
3 nights Udaipur
3 nights or so in Jodhupur
3 nights Jaislamer
3 nights Shekawati Bikanar
2 day Delhi
There's an overnight train from Bharatpur to Udaipur and a morning train from Udaipur to Ajmer (for Pushkar).

Maybe Bharatpur, Udaipur, Pushkar, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikanar, Shekawati, Jaipur, Delhi.

Or you could get the morning train from Udaipur (07:05) to Ajmer (12:30), then the afternoon train from Ajmer (14:25) to Jodhpur (19.45), but that would be a long day.

Hey Natalie what day of the week do you plan to go to Rishikesh. I was planning to go there for some time now.

Your plan looks pretty good.

Hey Kismet the only train between Ajmer and Jodhpur is the Ajmer-Jodhpur fast passenger train. As Steven has said, it leaves Ajmer at 14.25 and reaches Jodhpur at 19.45. It has an AC III tier compartment and you can book it online.

There are 36 tickets available for the 11th of December so if you can book it in the next 2-3 days you will be fine.
