Hello all !

I am new here, and despite trying to find it out if it was posted somewhere earlier in this forum or not, I am not successful. I am having a AC Chair Car ticket of Ranchi-Howrah Shatabdi train,it's presently WL 17/10.

All I want to know, what if I board the train without it being getting confirmed at the time of travel.Would I be thrown out by the Railway ticket checker or get fined? Can't anything be done as I am not willing to chance to any other train or other time.
I heard that travelling with an Waitlisted ticket is possible in Sleeper Class of other express/mail trains, but I am not sure about Shatabdi.

Any advice on this regard would be highly appreciated.
Thanking you all in advance

I don't understand, this train has availability from today, and every day for the next 3 months.

Thanks for replying Steven!
Well,I am having a Wait listed ticket,it's waiting 10 to be precise.
So,I want to know if I would be allowed to travel with a wait listed ticket in Shatabdi or not,if it doesn't get confirmed untill the last moment.
I am talking about the train No.2020

You cannot board the train on a wait-listed ticket.

If I said I was getting the Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani, where would you think I was boarding the train?

I can see that you're boarding the Shatabdi at another station and not Ranchi, but there are too many combinations of stations and dates to work out where and when you're boarding the train, so I can't work out what level of waitlisted tickets usually get confirmed or offer any other useful info.

If the Shatabdi has availabilty from Ranchi (as it does for the next 90 days), your waitlisted ticket should get confirmed, but that's only a guess.

Indizen has give the straight answer to a straight question, I should stop trying to offer more info unless enough info is offered in the firt post.

Good luck, and I hope your ticket gets confirmed.

Good reply Steven_ber

I wish when people ask for help they provide as much detailed info as available.

For example, the OP should have mentioned the date of travel, the starting train station and anything else that would be useful. Gosh, I do not understand this syndrome - as if it is a quiz

Cheers

That's OK, you're not to know that extra info may be available, I sometimes get frustrated that people don't provide enough info, but I'm best just ignored, I think my girlfriend is writing a book about how to do this (ignore me), I'll let members know when the book is published.

I've just checked on the Indian Railway website, but the reservation computer has gone to bed for the night, I'll try to look in the morning (UK time).

Thanks for telling me that, and I am relieved to hear that at least you no more think I was anything by ignoring you.As far as I am concerned, you are such a wonderful helpful person,no one can certainly ignore you in any way

Well,do check it out later when the site "Wakes" up again. Will be looking forward to read your feedback on the same

Thanks for all the help that you provided already

I see the waitlist for Durgapur-Howrah is now WL 19/WL 11, there are still 63 berths available on the Ranchi-Howrah quota, so at a guess, I'd say you should get a seat, to be sure, ask the booking office staff* or the TTE on the today's Shatabdi.

* - Go to the reservation supervisor's office, no need to queue at a ticket window.

If you don't want to take the chance try booking on the Black Diamond, it's a similarly timed train.

Train 3318 departs Durgapur at 18.20 and gets to Howrah at 21.25

Air Con Chair Class for the 9th = available 10.
