Trains Kochi/Varkala to Mysore/Chennai?
Looking for the easiest &/or quickest way to get from Kochi to Mysore, or from Varkala (or nearby Kollam or Trivandrum) to Mysore for a night, then on to Chennai. I prefer train travel, but will bus some of the way if necessary.
Any ideas?...LP doesn't say much about connecting in these directions, so I'd appreciate some help. |

Realistically, you will have to get an overnight bus from Cochin.
The best route to take (though you don't have the time) would be a bus or train to Coimbatore (another station for Coimbatore is Podanur), then go to Mettupalaiyam and get the toy train to Ooty (very scenic journey), then a 3-hour bus trip to Mysore. I liked Mysore, but feel you're wasting your time to go all that way for 1 day. There is a well-timed overnight train from Varkala to Madurai (Sleeper class only), then overnight trains from Madurai to Chennai. Madurai is OK, certainly worth a day on the way to Chennai. |
