Trains Hospet to Goa

Just starting to plan a trip in February, so need to do some train bookings soon. I found some old notes from planning a previous trip which I'm not sure about. Can anyone tell me if there is another train (apart from train 2847 departing Hospet Monday/Wednesday/ Thursday/Saturday) called the Vasco Express train 7227 that departs Hospet 8.50am Tuesday/Friday/Saturday....or is this some strange aberration I've written down that doesn't exist?

Google "Ïndia Rail Catering" to check Hospet (HOS) to Madgaon (MAO).

7603 daily to Goa
Kcg Ypr Exp (7603) M T W T F S S
Hospet Jn - Madgaon
06:30
13:55
7h 25m

plus Amaravathi Exp (8047) Days??
Hospet Jn - Madgaon
06:30
13:55
7h 25m
If either train is cancelled as happned to me expect a very crowded trip on the other.

Organise a autorick the night before for say 5.30 in the morning to take you from Hampi 200 rupees
Evil all its sin is still alive.

... And have a look also at http://erail.in?T=HPT::VSG:. Same results as Brisso, and I find no 7227 there. (Except it would appear station code is HPT then.)

(What's more, I find no 7227 there nor at http://trainenquiry.com/. It doesn't appear to exist. Which doesn't mean it may not have at one time.)

(As far as any Vasco Express goes, at the latter, I can find a 7309 YPR Vasco Exp, and a 7311 MAS Vasco Exp, but both go over Hubli; the one to Bangalore, the other to Chennai, of course.)

ps Your 2847 moreover these days appears to be a Duronto (a fairly new non-stop point-to-point type of train) from Howrah to Digha.

Don't despair just yet, you're not necessarily crazy, as said, those numbers may just have changed

Thanks for the replies. Doesn't actually worry me if I am crazy ....just wondered if there was an alternative day I could leave Hospet that would suit better, and when I found the old listing thought I may have discovered a possibility.

Lonely Planet '07 suggests that in season (Nov.-March) there are overnight sleeper buses between Hampi and Goa, don't ask me where in Goa. Someone recently confirmed this here -- and called the ride "an experience."

Thanks for the alternative, but will say no thanks to a bus! Have only done one very memorable sleeper bus trip in 3 past visits to India - Bundi to Indore - & it will be my last! Had always taken trains, and love travelling Sleeper Class, but the bus trip was a horror. It will be forever on known as "the bus from hell"....no room for one of our packs in the luggage it was us (too big Aussies) a pack, 2 day packs & a big camera bag, perched in a bunk about the right size for one. We rocked & banged all night, especially when the bus left the bitumen whenever another vehicle came toward us. Whenever one of us needed to roll over we had to tap the other on the shoulder & synchronise our movements! Funny in retrospect, but not funny at the time.

##7603 runs daily between Kachiguda and Yeshwantpur.

##On four days in a week this train carries through coaches to Goa and on the remaining three days, it carries slip coaches to
Hubli.

##The through coaches to Vasco are carried by 8047/8048 Amravati Express between Guntakal and Vasco via Hospet. 8047/8048 runs between Howrah and Vasco via Vijayawada, Guntakal, Hospet, Hubli and Londa.

##Consequent to introduction of 2847/2848, the 7227/7228 had been discontinued. Subsequently, the 2847/2848 had been renumbered as 8047/8048.

Which should change to 18047/18048 in December 2010.
