Trains from Mumbai to Bangalore
Hi there,
Would someone be able to suggest which train(s) to take from Mumbai to Bangalore? I'm hoping to depart Mumbai on a Friday (or Saturday)...are there any express trains available? I've registered already with IRCTC.
Thanks for your help!
Anne

By the way, there are 2 daily trains and One Train that runs only six days in a week, from Mumbai to Bangalore, as detailed below:
1017/1018 Dadar-Yeshwantpur Chalukya Express (6 days)
1013/1014 LTT-Coimbatore Express (**via Bangalore City) (Daily)
6529/6530 Mumbai-Bangalore City (daily)
##The three trains to Bangalore start from 3 different terminals in Mumbai and again one of them terminates in a different terminal within Bangalore City (i.e. Yeshwantpur).
-----------------------------
##There is one more train which runs on 4 days in a week, but by-passes Bangalore City Station, as it touches Krishnarajapuram in South Bangalore, though it starts in Mumbai main terminal. It is 6339 CSTM-Nagercoil Express (4 days) and 6331 CSTM-Trivandrum Express (weekly).

Thanks for your advice, everyone. If I were to make my trip from Bombay down to Bangalore two days, where would you suggest I stop? I am hoping to experience a lot of different Indian cultures during the scant time I'm there...I could leave Bombay, travel a half day and then stay overnight, continuing on to Bangalore the next day.
I'd be happy for some more of your thoughts, please!
Thanks a lot!

Will you please tell me how to reach the other stations that AREN'T Central Station in Bombay? Can I reach them via subway? Taxi? How long should I expect a trip to one of the other stations to take, if I'm staying overnight near Central Station?
Thanks for your continued help,
Anne

All stations connected

All Rail stations in Mumbai are connected via the local train network [its not a subway since its above ground]. You can go from any station to any station but avoid the rush hour. You will not be able to enter the train in the rush hour rush direction...The rush hour: mornings 8 to 12 noon from North to South
..................: evenings 5 to 9 in the opposite direction

The commuter trains are very frequent (every 2-3 minutes) and very crowded during rush hour (standing room only with a density of upto 15 persons per square meter!) especially in 2nd class. If you do travel, I recommend the ladies compartments. If you have a morning train from LTT, I would consider the local train from CST as they are much faster than cab. Note that Cabs (taxis) are very inexpensive. See other threads for approximate rates.
