Trains Bangalore To Goa Help Please!!
Hi All
I keep reading everyone saying how useful the irctc website is and I all I ever get is page not displayed or system errors when I try to search a station so maybe its my crappy Sify connection as I have never once got this site to work.
I need tickets for 2 on an overnight train from Bangalore to Panjim (if indeed it goes direct to Panjim) preferable late on Sunday 2nd April and returning on Thursday 6th hopefully at a late time again to arrive back in Bang on Friday morning.
Without being able to navigate within the website I have no idea if these trains or these times even exist so any help will be appreciated.
Once I know the schedules and availability then I'll prob just pop into the train office and book it there!
2 tier ac please!
Cheers in anticipation
Malc

You will have to get a bus from Madgaon to Panjim.

Train 7312 (Thursday only) Madgaon 15:20, Bangalore (Yesvantpur) 05:45.

If you are travelling between March and May, you need to book in advance. If you book now, you'll probably get on the waiting list. Other options below.
1> You can wait for your train ticket, you're very likely to get it.
2> Decide to take a bus to Goa. Get sleeper class. You can sleep all the way to Goa. Last time I checked, roads were good and you got good sleep.
3> Take a bus to Mangalore, and then take Konkan rail. It is also a nice experience.

Thanks for that, seem to have got the site working now that I have the correct destination names but now I'm stumped on the difference between i tickets and e tickets.
Is there a way that I can just print the ticket off or do I need someone to deliver it to me?
Thanks for the tip about the overnight sleeper bus, did it last year and it was the worst trip of my entire life, sleep? Must be joking, when I finally got to Panjim 5 sodding hours later than schedule I immediately booked a flight back and sold my bus tickets to someone else, never again!
Cheers

Trains starting with the number 2 are the only ones whose tickets can be printed at home.
Other train tickets have to be sent to an Indian address.
"Send the boy!!"
EDIT, all trains can now be booked and printed at home. (E-tickets)

Thanks Steve
I finally got it sorted after an hour of pop ups not working properly. That site is right up there with Air Deccan for shite Indian websites ain't it?
Turned out it was cheaper to fly than take train but I wanted my Indian virgin friend (meaning a friend visiting India for the first time) to experience a train trip so got flight there and train back!
Thanks for your help folks!
Cheers

Is there still only this one train from Bangalore to Goa, does anyone know? It's a bloody disgrace that plane tickets to Goa from Bangalore always cost at least about Rs 1200 more than from Bombay to Goa – though the distance is almost exactly the same, some 600-odd kilometres.

Hence, the best option is 7311 Madras-Vasco Weekly Express which runs via Bangalore on Fridays.

You can take a train from Yeshwantpur (around 17 kms from Bangalore) to Madgaon (around 40 kms from Palolem). There are 2 trains which run 3 days in a week http://erail.in?T=SBC::MAO:
