Train travel - please help
To anyone who has had experience travelling by train between (1) Mumbai and Goa, (2) Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, or (3) Agra and Delhi:
Could you please let me know if I will be able to go to the train station and just purchase the tickets there on the day of travel, or would i have to reserve the train tickets before the day of travel. If it is the latter, how long before the day of travel would I have to reserve the train tickets? Thanks in advance. |

No. You should reserve well in advance for long distance trains.

Are those trips listed considered long distance? Also, how far in advance? Thanks |

If u r considering the overnight train between Mumbai & Goa in winter you must book right now.
Same is with Jodhpur to Jaisalmer. How many days in advance depends on the season. Check Indian railways web site for availability. There is a foreign traveller's quota too. The superfast Shatabdi Exp. between Delhi & Agra gets full. Book atlesat 3 to 4 days in advance. |

Indian Railways short-distance train (day running intercity express) reservation starts 10 days before the date of journey (excluding the date of journey). there are day running Intercity Express trains, as well as long-distance express/mails between: (1) Mumbai and Goa (2) Jaipur and Jodhpur (3) Jodhpur and Jaisalmer (4) Agra and Delhi Day running Intercity express will be better as they run on time due to their short distance run, and it is also convenient to get their reservation (less rush for reservation). You will also be able to enjoy the landscapes through the window. happy journey Bhaswaran |

Dear Mr.Panda,
It would be much more helpful, if you can indicate the Class in which your propose to undertake the journey and also the possible dates. ##If you are thinking of doing this Trip in the second fortnight of December,2006, then you may change your dates at once!!!!
