Yes it does, all trains from Mumbai (except 2619) stop at Thivim.

An Indrail pass will cost: -

2-tier air con = 20 Euros (US$ 26)
SLeeper Class = 8.5 Euros (US$ 11)
+ postage.

I'm convinced I must have done something wrong here, because the Indrail pass works out cheaper than the train ticket (in 2-tier air con).

Single tickets cost: -

2-tier air con = 23 Euros (Rs 1322)
SLeeper Class = 5.16 Euros (Rs 295)

I have used them a few times (and know of many people who have used them), they can be completely trusted, they have been running their company for many years and have a great reputation with Indian Railways.

I find them very straightforward, but not normally rude, they ask very direct questions (just like most Indians) and don't suffer fools (Non calling you a fool, it's just an expression).

This is mainly because they get a lot of fools as customers; I've been in the shop when a customer has telephoned from India asking them to change his reservation for a train that evening.

Another time, a man was trying to book overnight trains for 4 nights in a row, the owner of the company was trying to explain how tiring that would be, I also tried to say the same, but the customer was having none of it.

On a separate piece of paper, put your name, age (for the ticket), and address, & the details of the train, train number, day of journey, class of travel (3-tier air con is the same price as 2-tier on Indrail passes, so opt for 2-tier), all these details will prevent any misunderstandings from the phone call.

We have used SD to book trains for both of our trips and their knowledge and service is excellent. Agreed, the lady at the other end of the phone can seem off hand (she's pretty much the same when you go to the shop), however, you will find the same attitude when you get to India, so do try SD again.

As Steve said, maybe a fax with your exact requirements may be easier.

thanks,
perhaps i should not have used the word rude. just very direct. she told me to 'just listen please' when i was telling her my contact details lol. i suppose its just a different way of dealing with people. in ireland people are so polite, but they are rarely listening to what you are saying.
i think the confusion arose from me wanting to book 5, 1/2 day rail passes.
i definatley will call them again.
