Hi All,

I have booked tickets for my parents in Garib Rath from yeshwantpur to Secunderabad and because of my Mom's health it is required that their seating layout comes together.
Please let me know if the seat number below would come together or would come back to back .

1) From yeshwantpur to Secunderabad : Seat nos G13 60 (LB) and 64(LB)

2) From Secunderabad to Yeshwantpur : seat nos G11 62(MB) and 64(LB)

I just want to know if the above seats would come in the same cabin of the compartment or will come in different cabins.

Your help in this regard is highly appreciated

Those numbers can't all be correct, should 60 be 61?

Here's the layout of a Garib Rath 3A carriage, and although not all GR carriages are the same, this one seems to fit in with your bookings, as long as 60 = 61.

I can tell you about the normal seating arrangements in trains.There are 8 seats in a cabin and a total of 72 seats in a compartment.If one has seat no's 60 & 64 they will fall in the same cabin.It goes like this. Seat no 1to 8 shall be in the first cabin,seat no 9 to 16 shall be in the second cabin and so on.But a word of caution i have never travelled by Garib Rath so Iam not very sure of the seating arrangements in those trains.In my openion the arrangement should be the same.

The Garib Rath carriages were specially designed to include side middle berths and to improve the use of space in a carriage, so the berth numbering is very different from the normal 3A carriage, click on the diagram above to see how different.

From the diagram it seems that seat no. 60 & 64 shall fall in different cabins.Any way if that's correct then only option is to find someboby in the two cabin who is willing to interchange the seat.After all so many things run on hope here.

Given that 64 is a lower berth (twice), and 62 a middle berth, 60 can't be a lower berth, and I suspect the person meant to type 61 instead of 60.

when you enter ac door they take about 4 feet inside also, so in first bay there 3 births instead of 6, which were facing the backside wall of these food warmers, but on the side there were also 3 births, which were extending to the door ( two RPF constables were sitting on these birth so cant take pictures ) so in all in first bay there were 6 birth (including side births) in second bay there were 9 and so on.. so mine was side lower in second bay, luckily there was nobody in SM or SU.
but i am thinking what they will do with these food warmers ....
there were 7 coach in all of these type in this NR train, made in RCF Kapoorthala in 2009.
seems to be the same layout as the diagram in my first reply.

Hi all

Sorry if this question is kinda repetitive. I have earlier today booked tickets from LTT to Kottayam on the Kochuveli Garib rath and am a tad worried about the seat positions.

Here's what the E-Ticket says:

ticketstat by whizkiddreloaded, on Flickr

I chose the LB, MB, LB, MB configuration so that the four members would face each other. However, looking at the diagrams for the 3A garib rath coach, it seems the seat numbers 77 and 76 would be the SL and SM berths. At the same time, looking at the pictures here, these numbers would end up facing each other. I am wondering which one is correct? The picture does show the seat numbers 73, 74 and 76, 77 being LB and UB respectively. I do understand that there are various seating combinations on Garib rath coaches. The question is, would my coach end up being just like the one described in the tickets? Or should I brace myself up for two seats in the Side section. The problem is we are quite tall and wont fit in to the side berths easily
Let me know if this has been explained earlier in some other thread. Searched - but didnt find!

Your berths are LB and MB only, don't worry.

Whizkidd,

The abbreviation next to your tickets berth no. says what kind of berth is alloted to you.
LB=LOWER
MB=MIDDLE
UB=UPPER
SL=SIDE LOWER
SM=SIDE MIDDLE (Applicable in some trains)
SU=SIDE UPPER

hi I booked Raipur to lucknow garibrath train no 12536
been allotted
G10 , 43 LB
G10 , 46 LB
G10 , 49 SL

This matches the above diagram . I heard numbers given on booking are wrong and are changed on boarding the train, which explains why the thread starter's dilemma. So have they started giving correct numbers or what?

One cannot say for sure. However going by your berth nos. you would either find a 75 berth coach or a 78 berth coach.
