I checked paramiyer's edited post where it mentions that the class is suspended from 6th April onwards.

Does it mean that they will add one more A/C (3rd or 2nd AC) coach in these trains?

now this would be interesting to see, especially since IR finances are in doldrums already...
in case of 12615:
FC costs 935 inr & has 26 berths. expected revenue: 24310 inr, 2 more in rac could take it upto 26180 inr
3A costs 764 inr & has 64 berths. expected revenue: 48896 inr, 3 more in rac could take it upto 49660 inr, 16 berths in tatkal could take it upto 52988 inr
SL costs 282 inr & has 72 berths. expected revenue: 20304 inr, 4 more in rac could take it upto 21432 inr, 22 berths in tatkal could take it upto 23082 inr

considering that there is no additional operational expense in running FC (no ac running/maintenance, no bedroll, no extra cleaning, not sure if there is an attendant), i really wonder how it can be a loss making proposition...

In the past the FC carriage has often been replaced with a 3A carriage.

Any news on NELLAI or PEARL CITY FC coach replacements?

I am wondering whether they added new 3rd or 2nd AC coaches or will the bring back the FC coaches?

Thanks,

I'm sorry I don't really understand how to make my own thread but I have been looking around your wonderful website for a while and couldn't find a real answer to my question!

in january I'm planning to go from Manipal (nearest train station Udupi) to Perth. I will either book a flight from Mumbai or Bangalore (because it's the cheapest, Bangalore being 100 dollars cheaper than Mumbai). I am looking for the easiest, shortest and cheapest route. I like the idea of Mumbai because I can take the train from Udupi and know when I will arrive at the train station in Mumbai and that it takes me an hour or max 2 hours to get to the airport. To Bangalore I will have to take a bus, which is less reliable in time schedule. Bangalore does seem to be a shorter trip, but I can't find how long it will take me and at what times I can take a bus (not a local one) to bangalore. Obviously I can't get too late to the airport, but since I have a tight schedule I'm not too keen on spending too much time waiting in bangalore either.

I hope that someone can help me! I'd like to book my flights soon since the prices seem to be jumping up every day...
Thank you!

If you want to take a bus to Bangalore, this is a slightly odd thread to post it in. There are frequent bus services from Manipal to Bangalore and the journey takes approximately 9 hours (I would recommend KSRTC's AC Sleeper service - there are two services at 2020 and 2100, but if you want to travel during the day, there are two Volvo services at 0750 and 0945 - visit ksrtc.in for details and bookings).

There are train services from Udupi to Bangalore as well, an overnight service leaving Udupi at 1816 and reaching Bangalore at 0835, and a day service (thrice a week) leaving Udupi at 0938 and reaching Bangalore (Yesvantpur) at 2225.

There are frequent bus connections between Bangalore's main bus stand (Kempegowda Bus Stand), which is opposite Bangalore City Railway Station and the airport - an airconditioned shuttle service runs at approximately a 20 minute frequency.

Quick train question but didn't want to start a whole new thread.

I'm on a train to Gwalior from Delhi tomorrow at 6am. After some research we've decided to skip Gwalior and head straight on to Jhansi for Orchha.

I've checked and there are still plenty of seats for the whole journey (24). Can I just pay the extra on the train or do I need to cancel and rebook? I'd rather to just pay the extra and save the hassle of cancel/rebook.

Cheers guys and gals.

Ask the TTE to extend your ticket. He should be able to sort it if there is room on the train.

I have waiting tickets for two trains (Shatabdi and Ranikhet Express) from Kathgodam to Anand vihar Delhi of same date.
I will get cancel one of these and keep which ever is confirmed first.

I have few confusions.

1. Can I get cancelation refund on reaching Kathgodam Station ( Any Special Timings), assuming I reach at 11.50 by Shatabdi and cancellation is for Ranikhet Express (Leaving after two days.)

2. Is there cancellation facility available at Nanital, they used to have booking facility before.

3. Can I get ticket cancelled after due date of train, assuming tickets remained struck in waiting list only. And till what dead line.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Dave.

If the train is full then the alternative is the roof or the buffet car. Both are great....view or food? Hmmmm
