The railway station near Paharganj area is New Delhi Railway Station.
Train 4006, 4258, 2562, 2382 are some trains from NDLS (New Delhi Railway Station) to BSB (Varanasi Junction)
Train 3237, 3239, are some trains from BSB (Varanasi Junction) to AGC (Agra Cantt.)

If you are in doubt about selecting the station from more than 1 stations in the city then I will suggest you to search trains by this site.
http://www.cleartrip.com/trains
and search by query "All Stations".
For Example: Delhi - All Stations, Varanasi - All Stations.. etc
Then Note the actual station name in the result and you can directly book the seats from this site(few Rupee Costly) or book from http://www.irctc.co.in(official website).

I've not checked on this particular query, but to get to Varanasi I'd normally check on Mughalsarai though, its nearby train junction (the largest in India I think) which sees the far more trains. It's about a forty-minutes ride from the city center.

On the other hand, if there's a convenient train straight into town, then, sure, why not. I think many of those trains to MGS are (a lot!) faster too, though. Check also on http://erail.in/ , one can normally give a direct link to the route, but this has sometimes been failing me of late for some reason.

erail search between HW to RKSH

However, I wouldn't be worried if I had that ticket, although there are at least 26 RAC positions to get through before you gat a confirmed berth.

They allow people to book up to at least WL 316, so on that basis, I'd say your ticket will most likely become confirmed.

Even though it's holiday season, WL 18 is such a low number given the likely number of carriages, just unused quota tickets and a few cancellations should be enough to get you confirmed berths, I'd be surprised if you didn't get confirmed.

I've not got my timetables with me and erail doesn't cover this section (no idea why), there are trains, about 4 a day, but I think you're unlikely to use them, the tourist part of Rishikesh is further east and tourists stay in Laxman Jula or High Bank or east of Rishikesh, and all these areas are a few kms away from Rishikesh, the shared autos from these areas also don't tend to pass Rishikesh railway station as it's about 2kms north west of the main road and bus stations, a shared auto from the main road (running from Laxman Jula) direct to Haridwar (across the road from Haridwar train station) will likely be your best way to get to Haridwar.

Don't miss Haridwar, it's an interesting town, and the atmosphere down by the river in the evening is really nice.
erail has cover this section. I just searched in erail.in by choosing all stations tab and station code HW to RKSH and this is the link
http://erail.in?T=HW::RKSH:
reverse direction is not coming and i send them mail and got reply that they are working in the site from last 3 days for new features and some search may not come. it will be solved within this weekend.

Thanks Tokamal for your prompt action. Actually the enquiry was made by me. I have never heard of that site before. Hope they will soon be offering all the details we often need.

Onward Journey Information

Hi,

I would like to travel from A to C. But as there is no direct train connecting A and C I will have to go through B . I hope I would be able to take advantage of telescopic rates in that way not paying for the fare for train A-B + B-C, instead pay for journey A-C.

Now I would like to know information about fares in this way i.e., fares depending on the distance travelled.( Onward Journey)

Next, Is it possible to do such a booking online ?

Would be very helpful if anyone can answer my query

Definitely do-abe if the distance A-B is more than 500 Km but I am pretty sure it cannot be done online. Secondly you may not get confirmed berth from B to C.

Dear gaurav,

Definitely do-abe if the distance A-B is more than 500 Km

##Not necessarily,Sir. If the first train chosen by you terminates after travelling for less than 500 Kms. and if you are using this train to reach your destination, which is beyond the terminating station of the first train, then also you will be extended the Telescopic benefit.

##I will use the regular Station Names/Trains, as an example.

**You must be aware that 7050 Express operates between Secunderabad and Machilipatnam via Vijayawada.

**You must be aware that 2718 Ratnachal Express operates between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.

##If I don't get a direct ticket in 2728 Godavari Express which runs between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam (or) if I don't want to use this direct train, I will be issued a through ticket from Secunderabad to Visakhapatnam with telescopic benefit, first by 7050 upto BZA and thereafter by 2718 Ratnachal Express, irrespective of the fact that SC-BZA distance is 351 Kms.

##But in this case, I will be issued a through SL Ticket and I will be given only a seat in Ratnachal, as there is no SL Class in this train.

##However, if I so desire, I can make onward booking even in the train where there is SL Class, ofcourse, as you said, either with confirmed booking or with RAC Status depending upon the availability at that point of time.

##The 500-km question arises only when you desire to break your journey.

(...contd....)

##The HYB-RJY Distance is 510Kms, whereas SC-RJY Distance is 500Kms.

##If I want to break my journey in RJY, then I must book the ticket from Hyderabad only either by 8646 (or) 2728, so that I will be crossing the 500-mark fixed for B/J purpose.

##If the time required to complete my work at RJY is short, then I can book SC-VSKP Ticket by 2738 Goutami Express upto RJY and then make my onward booking in NZM-VSKP Link Express. This is because 2738 do not goes to VSKP, but terminates in Kakinada.

(..contd..)

##The scheduled arrival of 2738 Goutami Express in Rajamundry is 5.38hrs. in the morning, whereas the scheduled departure of 2862 NZM-VSKP Link Express is 9.34hrs.

first time travel on duronto express

I am going to travel from Nizamuddin (Delhi) to Pune Jn. for the first time by Indian Railways by 2264 Duronto Express.

Has anyone travelled by this train before?

Is it also a Rajdhani Express?

What are the meals served on AC 2 Tier sleeper class?

Do they serve ONLY OILY PARANTHAS with meals or do they serve Chapati also?

Can someone help me with these queries?
