Dear Viswanath,

I cannot draw a picture, but I can only explain the lay-out.
-----
There are 102 Seats in GR.AC.Chair Car.
.....
These 102 seats are divided into two halves.
....
In the first half, there will be 54 Seats (9rows & each row consisting 6 seats, that is, 3x3). In the second half, there will be 48 Seats (8 rows & each row consisting 6 seats, that, 3x3)
....
This coach will have 3 doors, facing the Platform.

Dear Somnath,

##The Layout of GR.AC.Chair Car has not been provided by Prakash Tendulkar, who is a prominent IRFCian. Presumably, when he has drawn these Charts, the GR must not be in existence!!!

##Please go through the Second Seating Arrangement where 108 seats have been provided.

##Now, out of this,

i) remove the last row, it becomes 102 seats.

ii) provide an entrance door on both sides of the coach between
43-48 & 49-54.

iii) put Airconditioning Equipment

iv) put Green Colour with yellow stripes on the exterior of the coach;

You will get the GR.AC.Chair car!!!

It so happens Steven_Ber is working on something just like that, for all the various classes: Carriage layout diagrams, PLEASE give feedback.

So, keep an eye out for his posts I guess; it will no doubt appear in this Railways forum once it's ready.

I'll do a seat layout diagram for Garib Rath chair class, but a few things I need to know.

1, have all Garib Rath CC carriages got the same layout and number of seats?

2, what direction do seats 1-48 face, the centre of the carriage or the end of the carriage?

3, what direction do seats 49 - 102 face?

4, I assume seats 1-6 are at one end of the carriage and seats 97 - 102 are at the opposite end of the carriage, is this correct?

5, I assume the central entrance doors lead to a walkway between the entrance doors, are there doors from this walkway leading to each half of the carriage? (to keep both sections air conditioned)

6, are 3 of the toilets Indian style toilet (squat) and the other a western style toilet?

7, Do you know if there are 4 toilets, or if the space normally used for a toilet is used for storage instead? (as the photo at the end of this post could indicate, or is that just one of those slim electrical cupboards)

8, Are the 4 inside doors (into air con sections) sliding doors or push/pull doors? (photo below seems to suggest a sliding door)

A lot of questions there VSP, so I've done a quick diagram to show how I think the layout will be, I'll do a much better one once I've got all the details.

The blue lines are sliding doors.

Is this correct?

EDIT....just noticed seats 49 - 54 (I think) are facing the other seats.

http://picasaweb.google.com/hitmomen...05513144856322

So I've re-done the diagram.

Is it seats 49 - 54 that are facing the other seats? (it's not 97 - 102, I can see those seats, and the ones in front on another photo, and it seems unlikely the photographer went into the other half of the carriage)

What number seats face the opposite direction in the other half of the carriage? (1 - 6 or 43 - 48)
