I've got a few photos in my 'gallery', here's one, and another.

Have you been to Tippong Colliery?

Hi Medulla and welcome to indiamike.com

S. D. Enterprises sell them in London.

If you come out of Wembley Park station (Jubilee line trains are not stopping there at the moment), turn right, follow the road, you come to their shop.

They sell them for about £3:50 (=US$5), although you can download most of it free over the Internet, it is much better to have the book.

S.D. Enterprises would probibly send one through the post for a total of about £5:00, they should have some left, I bought one from them a couple of weeks ago.

Where exactly? That would be handy. The Indian Rails site I find impossible to deal with somehow, then again I haven't had the incentive to really try.

I won't do it. "Trains at Glance" isn't easy to use either

This page usually gives me all the answers I need: http://www.indianrail.gov.in/inet_metro_trns.html

You can get all the timetables from 'Trains At A Glance' at the following website.

http://203.197.214.122/railways/timetable/home.htm

For table 32A look in the 'Sampart kranti' link.

These tables are very difficult to understand without a route map, sadly the website didn't include one.

I've scanned mine, Top & Bottom.

Steven,

Any idea whether all the Sampark Kranti trains included in TAAG have been introduced?

All are running except 2.

The Kerala S.K. departs from Kochuveli today for it's first journey, Kochuveli is a brand new station in Trivandrum.

The return S.K. departs from Nizamuddin on the 4th April.

I can't find any info about the S.K. to Jammu/Udhampur, this service will probably start when the new line to Udhampur is opened, I had read about a month ago that the line was ready to be opened, but haven’t heard anything since.

The Nizammudin-Yeshwantpur (Bangalore) Sampark Kranti started on Oct 2nd last year and is the best train for Delhi-Bangalore. It's clean, you tend to get confirmed reservation even a day before departure (as against a month for Karnataka Exp) and it even takes less time than KK. Perfect train for Delhi to Bangalore or back.

Thanks Steven and soulfood, for the info.

Examining this concept of a Sampark Kranti Express, its supposed to be a train linking the state capital/ important town of a state to the national capital. These trains haven't been provided a commercial halt outside their state of origin, ie. the Maharashtra SK Exp. has no commercial halt outside Maharashtra, the Andhra SK Exp. has no commercial halt outside Andhra, etc.

One can safely take it then, that the SK Exp. has to be the next fastest after the Rajdhani Express. Given this, the Maharashtra SK Exp. is something of a joke - it covers the distance between Bandra Terminus and H. Nizamuddin in 22 hours 40 mins !!! This is slower than the Golden Temple Mail, which covers the same distance in 21 hours 35 mins, with innumerable commercial halts on the way !!

No stopppages outside their main state doesn't really make any sense to me. As it is, the Bangalore SK already stops at every station that Karnataka Exp does (although the route is slightly different). Why not make them official stops and earn revenue from passengers for those stations...?

The Bangalore SK takes about 38 hours as against Karnataka's 40 and Rajdhani's 34.

I agree; its quite stupid that a geographical boundary should determine the stops for a train, rather than passenger traffic density!

The Maharashtra SK Express crosses the state boundary within just 140 kms. of its run from Bandra Terminus and hence has no stop after Borivali !

The Uttar Pradesh SK Express has 567 kms. out of its total run of 702 kms. within the state of U.P. , hence halts at Chitrakoot, Banda, Harpalpur, Jhansi, Agra Cantt. and Mathura !!!!

Strange logic !!!

Excellent! About as hard to navigate as the real thing yes, I remember the many hours trying to plan a route
Still, invaluable once you come to grips with it.
