Train information, status and details required

Hello,

I intend to travel to India. I want to go from Amritsar to Mumbai. My own research at the Indian Railways website tells me that Golden Temple ML , train # 2904 T is the best option. Being a tourist, how much will the fare be?...we're 5 people...would a 3 tier ac sleeper do good?

Secondly, for my return from Mumbai to New Delhi, will Rajdhani Express, train # 2951 be good or some other train like the Golden Temple Ml suffice?

Any help will be appreciated.

Golden Temple Mail is a very popular train, so booking ahead is advised, the further ahead the better, especially if you all want to sit together as a group and sit away from the automatic door.

You can now book up to 90 days ahead, do this if you can.

3-tier air con would be a good choice.

The Rajdhani would also be the best choice from Mumbai to Delhi.

However, I'm prety sure I could find you 8 hours in Delhi without losing much time for the Amritsar-Mumbai journey.

Golden Temple mail, Amritsar 21.35, Mumbai Central 05.40 (32 hours)

or

Hirakund Express (8508), Amritsar 23.55, New Delhi 07.50 (8 hours)

The Hirakund express only runs on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, on other days you could get the Golden Temple Mail (arrives New Delhi at 07:05)

Mumbai Rajdhani (2952), New Delhi 16.30, Mumbai Central 08.35 (16 hours)

Total time on trains = 24 hours
Time in Delhi = 8 hours 40 minutes
Total travel time = 32 hours 40 minutes.

If you only wanted one night on the train, you could get the early morning Shatabdi (2014) from Amritsar (05:10) to New Delhi (11.15).

Try www.erail.in for all the fares, enter the stations you want to travel between, then select the train, then you'll see the fares.
