Train Information Required - Shimla-Manali-Dharmashala-Dalhousie-Delhi

Dear friends,

I am planning for an Himachal Pradesh Trip starting from Delhi. I need your help in how I can best travel between these locations, and the order of the locations if you prefer this is not the best order.


Delhi - Shimla
Shimla - Manali
Manali - Dharmashala
Dharmashala - Dalhousie
Dalhousie - Delhi

I would like to know all options like Air/Bus/Car/Train whichever you feel is the best.

the order is perfect


well,from delhi , get a train till kalka. from there on the famous chuk-chuk train will tk u to shimla. it will really be a memorable experience.
from shimla,there is no train track to manali. so u will hv to go by a bus/taxi. same applies for manali-dharamshala-dalhouise.
for dalhousie to delhi , come till pathankot by a taxi/bus. from pathankot, take a train back to delhi

Shimla to Manali you said I could take a Car/Bus. Can you give me pointers to how I can get an this done. What options do I have in terms of Car and Bus?

Now it seems that I need to take a car from Shimla-Manali-Dharmashala-Dalhousie-Patankot

Do you know any trains from Patankot to Delhi?

You can travel from Shimla to Manali by state transport bus or HPTDC deluxe coach(in season). You can book the former at the bus station on Cart road at Shimla and the latter at HPTDC tourist office at Scandal Point. The HPTDC office will also help you in organising a taxi to Manali, though this will be pretty expensive.

There are plenty of trains from Pathankot to Delhi; many of them convenient overnight ones. Some trains:

1. 4034 Jammu Mail, dep. 18=40, arr. 06=10
2. 4036 Dhauladhar Express, dep. 20=40, arr. 07=15
3. 4646 Shalimar Express, dep. 23=25, arr. 10=45
4. 1078 Jhelum Express, dep. 00=20, arr. 10=35
5. 2404 Delhi Express, dep. 20=00(from Chakki Bank), arr. 04=20

All these trains run daily.

You should also include Chamba in your trip, after Dalhousie and before Pathankot.
