Train from Varanasi to Agra ...

I'm having trouble finding the best and fastest train (or any train!) from Varanasi to Agra. Can anyone help?

Also, any suggestions for and interesting 1 day stop between Varanasi and Agra?

Log on to http://www.indianrail.gov.in, click on the "Train/Fare Accomodation" link at the top and check for trains between "Varanasi Jn." and "Agra Fort".

Lucknow is a very interesting stop between Varanasi and Agra, but needs more than a day.

My reference to Lucknow was in response to the OP's query on an interesting stop between Agra and Varanasi. Now, whether just one trun runs on this route or half a dozen of them run; is really irrelevant to me !

Its the OP who is likely to make the journey, not I !

hiya was looking for the same and decided that varanasi to delhi(not as a place to go but just a trainstation to switch) and then from delhi to agra was easier as you can then get the faster trains. Not sure if that helps but something to ponder

I assume the following direct train isn't being overlooked......

Varanasi to Agra

Train 4863 departs Varanasi (Tu, Th, F, & Su.) at 18:15 and gets to Agra Fort at 06:15.

2A = Rs 1073
3A = Rs 690
SL = Rs 256

Train 4853 departs Varanasi (M, W, & Sa.) at 17:20 and gets to Agra Fort at 06:15.

2A = Rs 1119
3A = Rs 719
SL = Rs 266

If, for a while, we consider Varanasi & Mughalsarai as Twin Town, though separated by 17 Kms., then, perhaps, the 2395 (weekly) is the fastest (8 Hrs.40 minutes) train between Mughalsarai and Agra Cantt.

Distance-wise, 9569/9570 travels less (585 Kms.)between Agra and Varanasi, when compared to all other trains. and ofcourse,l there is no direct train in the shortest route (570 Kms.)
