Train from Mumbai to Delhi

Can someone tell me how long the train trip from Mumbai to Delhi is? Is it overnight? How much for a 1st class A/C sleeper berth?

The fastest train between Mumbai and New Delhi is the 2951 Rajdhani Express, which covers the 1385 kms. distance in 17 hours; an overnight journey (From 16=55 to 09=55).

The fares, including meals, are :

1A Rs.4135/-
2A Rs.2210/-
3A Rs.1485/-

great train, great service and the food was fantastic. It was the best value for money that we had on our travels in India we had a great trip bang on 17 hours and met some lovely people on board and we all shared a few drinks (You are not supposed to dring alcohol on the trains) we travelled 2AC, half the price and the only difference was that First class has carpet and material on the seats. 2nd class or 2ac is the best value on the train.

While I agree that 2AC is the best value, the major difference between 2A and 1A is the cabin - in 1A one can lock the door and have far more privacy than the curtains in 2A can offer !

If there are just two of you travelling and can affoard the fare, there's nothing like locking yourself in a 1A COUPE !!

Another difference is in the food - 1A passengers are served more variety, if I'm not mistaken; and they're also served a bar of chocolate as compared to toffees for 2A passengers!!

davey,

a COUPE is meant for two persons. That which is meant for 4 is called CABIN. A 1A coach has both, coupe and cabin. The next time you book for 1A, put in a request for "COUPE" on the reservation form. If you get a confirmed ticket, it will just read "CONFIRMED", without alloting a berth no. You will know what has been allotted to you only on the day of travel, when you examine the reservations chart on the platform.
