Train from Delhi to Jodhpur
Hey everybody,
I guess I'm getting impatient with getting to india (10 days left), and I'm having problems finding the schedule for trains. I'm trying to figure out how much time I lose between my various destinations. I'm basically thinking of doing Delhi > Jodhpur > Udaipur > Agra > Varanasi > Darjeeling/Sikkim within 25 days. There is a train from Delhi to Jodhpur right? How long does it take approx? Sigh.. I've been googling and haven't lucked out much on it. Hope somebody can answer me Thanks, Vadim www.vadimchiline.com |

Its better to do:
1. Delhi-Udaipur by a direct train, Chetak Express 2. Udaipur-Jodhpur with a change of trains at Marwar 3. Jodhpur-Agra by a direct train, Marudhar Express Then to Varanasi, Darjeeling, etc.

SHIMLA's information is always reliable, but whilst he's been enjoying his last visit to India there has been a big change to trains in the Udaipur region.
Trains to Udaipur (WARNING) The only trains from Udaipur at the moment (until May) are going south to Ahmedabad. Whatever direction you travel, you will have to take a bus (or a plane) between Jodhpur and Udaipur. You can get trains between Delhi & Chittaurgarh, and Chittaurgarh & Agra, all timings on the 'WARNING' thread. The direction you travel could depend on what class of accommodation you prefer on the trains, the train from Chittaurgarh to Agra (16.5 hours) only has Sleeper class (cheap, no air con. Rs 143). The overnight train from Jodhpur to Agra (train 2308) has 2 tier as well as 3 tier air con + sleeper class (departs 17:15, arrives 05:35) 2A = Rs 1172 3A = Rs 763 SL = Rs 291 Agra to Varanasi. Train 4864 departs Agra Fort (Tue, Wed, Fri & Sat.) at 21:15 and gets to Varanasi at 08:20 2A = Rs 1073 3A = Rs 690 SL = Rs 256 Train 4854 departs Agra Fort (Mon, Thu & Sun.) at 21:15 and gets to Varanasi at 09:30 2A = Rs 1119 3A = Rs 719 SL = Rs 266 Mughal Sarai (12 kms from Varanasi) to New Jalpaiguri (for Darjeeling/Sikkim) Train 5622 departs Mughal Sarai daily at 18:35 and gets to New Jalpaiguri at 09:35. 2A = Rs 1223 3A = Rs 784 SL = Rs 289

Thanks Steven, for the correction.
However, you are wrong on one count!! I DID NOT enjoy my last visit to India !! On the contrary, I had a torrid time, both on the work and personal fronts!! ![]() |
