Train e-tickets and children

Hi

(sorry title should read Train e-tickets and children)

<Moderator Edit: corrected the title for you >

Does anyone know what the situation is with booking e-tickets for children less than 4 years old travelling with adults. There is no fare children less than 4. Do there details still have to be entered on the passenger form when purchasing e-tickets ?

Thanks in advance.

Sort of figured this out. It only lets you book tickets for people aged between 5 and 98. So I guess no need to mess about entering details for a 4 year old unless I want to buy her a ticket so we can get a whole compartment to ourselves.

Sounds like the >5s don't get a berth?

That might be ok if you are in a 4 or 6 berth section, but if you have two adults in two side berths then where does the poor child sit?

A train expert will be along in a minute...

Not sure about e-tickets, but.......

If you buy a ticket over the counter, you have to put details of children below the age of 5. (though no berth will be allocated to them)

I'd guess that you'd have to do the same for e-tickets.

Good grief! How many children do they expect to be able to sit in one lap?

Have a look in Sleeper Class (or a passing motorbike).
