Toy Train times

I'm a bit confused! Can any of you enlighten me about what time the Toy Train leaves New Jalpaiguri please? I have a ticket for the Mughal Sarai/Guwahati train (62424) which gets into New Jalpaiguri at 11.10 am on 15th Feb. How easily do you think I could connect up with the Toy Train afterwards? Many Thanksx

From the 'Train Information' thread........

Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.

Train 1D departs daily from New Jalpaiguri at 09:00 and arrives at Darjeeling at about 15:30.

Train 2D departs daily from Darjeeling at 09:15 and arrives at New Jalpaiguri at 15:45.

Distance 88 km.

FC = Rs 247
II = Rs 42

This train can now be booked in the same way as all other trains.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

There is also the ‘school train’, it runs daily and is still steam hauled, leaves Kurseong at 06:40, getting to Darjeeling at 09:10, and back from Darjeeling at 15:00, getting to Kurseong at about 17:30.

Distance 31 km.

FC = Rs 144
II = Rs 30
-----------------------------------------------------------------

There is also a ‘joy train’, steam hauled, from Darjeeling to Ghum (6km.) and back, just as a short excursion, subject to six tickets being sold – the fare is Rs 120 per person, the 'joy' train usualy departs at 10:00 am.

Thank you for the info. I'm not quite as savy at navigating the old links!

To update this thread, the 'Joy Ride' which uses the old steam powered locomotives not the new fangled Diesel ones, is up to 240 per person. The times are are 10am and another at 12:40pm. The limit is now five tickets have to be sold for the train to run. It took us a couple of days of waiting until there was enough interest to get it to run since at that price not many people were buying tickets.

Lots of fun though.
