Ticket frustration

I am trying to book some train tickets for travel in November and want to get the tickets delivered to my hotel in Delhi. I have sent 3 e-mails to the hotel asking if they will accept courier delivery of the tickets but I haven't had any response. Can anyone suggest what to do? I believe the tickets are sent to the specified address only 2-3 days after booking and that it is no longer possible to collect tickets from the station in Delhi.

Give em a call? Email and general connectivity is not always so 24/7 as it is in some other parts of the world maybe.

Hi Welcome to India.
U c I feel if you have a gud friend in Delhi book the ticket in his\her address (your name then C\o....)
Many hotels dont take the responsibility like this.
www.irctc.com is the site i book all my train tickets. I get the tickets in 24 hours time deliverd at my home.
Have a great time in India.

Welcome to India... I was about ready to go volunteer in Tamil Nadu after some phone calls giving me the OK but then it turned out via email that actually speaking Tamil was a main requisite, regardless of the fact that we had discussed this. Ask, ask, then ask again. Then cross your fingers. What I actually mean to say is telephone communication too can have its quirks and in a country where saying yes, sure, maybe is more polite than an outright no things can get tricky (and we haven't even touched on phone line quality and accents yet). Good luck with it.

If you're not too pressed for time (i.e. you can stand having to wait a day or two for an available train if need be, shouldn't normally really be a problem I don't think) that's what I would do yes. If you know where and when you want to go you could book some onwards tickets at the station too.

Hm. I'd try and call the hotel and see what they come up with, i.e. if they give you the go-ahead then assume that it's OK, plenty of people here seem to get away with it, although I admit to sometimes wondering what do you do if it all falls through and your tickets simply aren't there. Haven't seen many if any complaints here yet though.

You can book the tickets onoine, and have them held at IRCTC Reservation Office near the New Delhi train station./ This advice was given tio me by the IRCTC andseems to ahve worke a treat.

This was especially good, as when we booked we were not sure what accommodation we would be staying at (a drawback if you are having to send the tickets to a hotel).

Some recent posts would have it the ND station will no longer hold tickets for you, in keeping with the original posting. Don't know what the truth of it is, just passing it on.

I think (from reading somewhere) that there used to be arrangement for tickets to be held at the ND station at something like Window 17. This is the arrangement that has been discontinued.

The address for picking the tickets up now, is a building some 200 metres down Chelmsford Road from the station, in the IRCA buildings.

I have booked the tickets online and been in contact via email to the IRCTC (care@... email address) and they have confirmed the tickets are booked and they will hold them for me.

I have copied below an email I received (it looks like standard email as I have seen identical copies elsewhere on here and on TT) for your reference:
