TDR Filed but only half amount is approved
TDR Filed but only half amount is approved
Hello Guys,
I had booked a 3A ticket with journey date 13th July from NDLS to SDAH on Sealdah Duronto Express. The train was to leave New Delhi 13th July 8:05 PM but it got delayed and ultimately left 14th July around 04:00 PM i.e almost 20 hrs late. That is why I did not traveled and filed TDR. Today I am seeing they have approved refund of only Rs 695 that is exactly the half. As per the rules and regulations it is clearly stated that full amount will be refunded if "train is delayed more than 3 hours and passenger not traveled".
Can you people put some light into it?

Rest of the amount would be refunded maximum by 90 days from the day you have filed TDR.
PS:- You need to be sure of the current status as shown in the official website. Unless and until the official website shows that the train has been delayed by more than 3 hours, cancelling the ticket would give you only 50%. Also you need to be sure to click the correct option while filing the TDR.

Dada, I have done everything. I still hold the screenshot and as per railway rules I should get full refund. I dont know by what logic they have approved only the half. I never cancelled the ticket.
As I said earlier, the other half would be refunded back within the prescribed time limit of 90 days. You may however ask for a clarification from your online service provider, IRCTC/Cleartrip and so on to be on the safer side.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Hope for the best. However, similar incident happened and pending since January, 2011.
The amount was small at that time so didn't bothered, now it is a bit higher and giving a bit of pain. I had asked IRCTC many times , every time they come up with a copybook reply, "we regret your incovenience, we are following up and blah blah". They neither have any escalation matrix and I feel, as much high I will go I will be encountering more worthless morons sitting idle and wasting public resources.

Have you tried calling irctc's customer care line. They have recently proved to be very helpful to people from outside India who have been having problems setting up accounts.
Maybe talking to them might help fix your problem. If you have been issued ticket# numbers with their e-mail responses keep them handy as you may be asked for them.
The number is 011 393 40000.

No I did not make a call, communicated through mail. I have strong apathy
for talking to govt departments as I faced bitter experiences , insults and a round of hypertension after the fiasco each and every time. So, I try not to speak to keep my BP in control. I can give a try when quite a no of people talking something positive about IRCTC.
