Tatkal W/L

Can anyone please explain me how a tatkal W/L can be confirmed? If any confirmed ticket of passenger who made normal reservation gets cancelled, would a normal W/L passenger next in queue be confirmed or a tatkal W/L passenger? please shed some light on this topic

Suppose i have atakal waitlisted e-ticket
at even after chart preparation it is still waiting..

what will happen?
will the ticket get cancelled automatically and i will be without ticket?
Even in case of Auto cancellataion how much refund i will get? full??

E-tickets will get cancelled automatically. Regarding refund only the reservation charges would be deducted.

For tatkal one has to pay Rs 150/300 extra.Tatkal has very limited seats. Tatkal is booked by 99% people who are 99% sure about traveling. Hence there are very little chances of getting tatkal W/L confirmed. My experience tells that very rarely there are cancellations in tatkal as people think about the extra money spent.Well, I see no point in booking tatkal W/L.You are only 1% sure of getting it confirmed and most likely to be disappointed.

Yeah I agree that Tatkal W/L is very unlikely to confirm;
Tatkal W/L get preference ; that mean if their is a cancellation of a confirm seat first the Tatkal W/L will be cleared and then the normal (since they have paid more money).
Same is the case with Auto-upgrade first Tatkal people get upgraded then the normal ticket.

So if the tatkal tickets get a preference over regular tickets for auto upgrade and confirmations against cancellation, wouldnt it mean that there is a high chance of them getting confirmed.

I too have W/L tatkal tickets.

that isn't right. Tatkal W/L gets confirmed only when other Tatkal passengers cancel their tickets. Since the possibility of canceling by Tatkal passengers is very low, the possibility of Tatkal W/L passengers getting berths is also very low.
Regarding the amount of money refunded after cancellation of Tatkal W/L ticket, the total money paid is refunded excluding the reservation charges ( even the Tatkal charges are refunded).

tatkal waitlist passengers will be given first preference if any passenger cancels his/her ticket from general quota also..
this is wat was told to me by the booking clerk.

and IMO if a new rake (carriage ) is added like these days because of summer rush..Tatkal will get priority...

Aritradas, how do you we know from where to where you are travelling, which class, when is your date of journey to tell you whether it would be confirmed or not.

but, as a thumb rule, you should be very lucky to have your CKWL waitlist confirmed.
