tatkal ticket information

Hi

I need to book a tatkal ticket for navajeevan express from vijayawada to ahmedabad. but the opening tickets for vijayawada station are 24.

If i book a tatkal ticket from chennai central to ahmedabad i.e., from end to end (in this case opening tickets are 192) and if i change the boarding point to vijayawada. then from which quota the tickets are issued i mean from the 24 seats (of vijayawada) or from the 192 seats(chennai)

can you please let me know ASAP

I can't check the details as my connection is awful today.

I'm guessing here, hopefully vsp will be along soon to give his advice.

My guess is....

If there is a Tatkal quota from Vijayawada, and you try to book Tatkal from Chennai, but then change the boarding station, I think they will allocate your berth (if any left) from the Vijayawada Tatkal quota (the same as they do with general quota tickets).

I know Tatkal rules normally allow you to book from the trains' originating station, and board at another station, but I've got a feeling this would change if the new boarding station has it's own Tatkal quota.

I could very easily be wrong, and I'm just as interested in the correct answer to your question.

I booked two tickets from vijayawada to ahmedabad. the waiting list is 11 and 12.the date of journey is 17th nov 08. can you please tell me the possibility of getting my tickets confirmed?

I assume these are Tatkal tickets from the Vijayawada quota of 24.

If that's the case, then you have no chance at all of those waitlist tickets becomming confirmed, 12 people would need to cancel, 12 people who've only just booked, and all would get no refunds.

is Tenali on the Chennai quota?

If so, you could book from Chennai but change your boarding station to Tenali, and still take a ticket from the larger Chennai quota, you would need to board the train in Tenali though.
