Passports of all passengers on a ticket need not be there. Any one of the passengers is enough. If booking Tatkal, carry a photocopy of passport/visa.

Are you sure about that for FTQ tickets? It seems odd that they would sell an FTQ berth without proof that the person proposing to use it is a Tourist.
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

Yes, that's what I assumed as well. Otherwise you could get your foreign friend to buy tickets for you, no?

Anyway, I thought a copy of his passport would do, but no worries, I guess it will just have to wait one more day.

What I meant to say is that if more than 1 persons are traveling together, showing one passengers passport should do while booking under FTQ. The others will be available anyway during the journey.

Yes. If you are quick enough. You need to be at the front of the tatkal queue.

Thanks to all involved in this thread for explaining the subject with very little bluster. Very clear and understandable for anyone thinking of booking tatkal. We need more threads like this
