You'll probably be able to log in on Cleartrip.com, but My understanding is that Cleartrip will no longer work to book tickets without being "integrated" properly. Also, your IRCTC account will probably be fine as long as you pay with Amex.

I could be wrong...

fl4ian, I finally got the mobile OTP from IRCTC and my cleartrip account synced with IRCTC. I guess I wasn't doing a good enough job explaining IRCTC what I needed and why. Your email message to IRCTC was perfect. Thanks!!!

Ok, so i finally got around to linking my cleartrip account to the irctc account.
I followed the steps on cleartrip and entered my existing irctc account id.
I got an email OTP and a mobile OTP and my irctc account password (yes, it was changed as if i'm enrolling for a new account). Thankfully the irctc account still works (with the new password).

When i try to register the cleartrip account using the email and mobile OTP, it says "the username already exists" ???!!!

I've sent an email to irctc care to see what they can do about it.

IRCTC only accepts American Express for payment. Cleartrip.com is a Partner to IRCTC and they can accept Visa/Mastercard from foreigners. However, in order to integrate IRCTC and Cleartrip, there is a SECOND PROCESS. In this SECOND PROCESS, I will receive ANOTHER email code and ANOTHER SMS code. This is called the "SMS OTP" which OTP stands for One Time Password. I have already received the email OTP, but, just like the first process, the SMS OTP code was not received because I don't have an Indian mobile number.

The first process the email code was: xxxxxx
The first process the SMS code was: xxxxxx

The second process the email OTP code is: xxxxxx
The second process the SMS OTP code is: ?????

Again, this SECOND PROCESS is to INTEGRATE my existing IRCTC account with my Cleartrip account, so that I may use Visa and Mastercard to purchase rail tickets.

I need the SMS OTP (which was sent on March 2nd, NOT March 1st), to be sent to my email address (xxx@xxx.xxx) so that I can finish the integration steps between IRCTC and Cleartrip. The SMS OTP is NOT "xxxxxx", that was the SMS code from the first process.
Hang on - I just read this post again..
So, you need an email code & an SMS code AND an email OTP & an SMS OTP ???

Is the first pair of codes to establish your IRCTC account and the second set of codes to link the account with Cleartrip - is that how it works?
I have active accounts with both Cleartrip and IRCTC - I wonder whether I just need the email and SMS OTP codes to link the two...

You are correct, you need the second step only.

I've got some correspondence going now but it's extremely frustrating. I ask a question - get a reply with a ticket number - respond quoting the ticket number in the title - get an automated response with a new ticket number - and so on...!

If you read the very first post of this thread you will see how to deal with this problem.
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

You need to have an American Express card and use their gateway.

If you have an Amex card you might be better just using IRCTC. There are quite a few trains missing from Cleartrip.

Yes - I read it - thanks.
Are you saying you always need to respond using the most recent ticket number even if it's only an auto-response?

I thought the idea might be to always reference the first ticket number in order to identify the correspondence thread and hence the original inquiry

Maybe it doesn't work like that
