Solving problems with IRCTC/Cleartrip registration

This thread is for people outside India who are having problems setting up their IRCTC/Cleartrip accounts for purchasing rail tickets.

If you are encountering problems here are a few things you can try:
  • Make sure that you are not trying to register between 07.00 and 11.00 Indian Standard Time when the registration system is closed.
  • If you have had a previous account do not use the same mobile phone number to register again – it will be blocked.
  • Make sure that the 'made up' 10 digit mobile number that you use to register is not an obvious combination of numbers such as 1234567890. Somebody will already have used it and your registration will fail.
  • Don't select a number starting with a 0 as your 'mobile number'.
  • Try using a different Internet Browser while you attempt to register.
  • Try calling the the IRCTC Careline at +9111 393 40000. Some people have had their problems solved by a call to the helpline.

If all else fails post details of your problem on this thread.

Mostly they reply within a day or three, some members reported they had to wait for a week.

I hope you followed the steps as described in the man on seat 61.
That is the most up-to-date procedure. You can book direct on the IRCTC website.

Thanks. Too bad. I need it because of the availeble seats. Waiting allready 2 days.

I did contact an Indian man who can book tickets for me with a 4$ charge. Maybe that will work for the tickets.

You can always send a mail to care@irctc.co.in and explain your problem.

Use the number in their last mail in the subject line of your mail.
Also mention the user-id that you used for registration, remember it is case-sensitive.

I did twice. unfortunately i haven't get any reaction from IRCTC care , after 4 days waiting.

So i can't book tickets..

Some people reported they had success with a new attempt, using a fresh email-address and user-id.
You don't need cleartrip.
Be sure that you follow the steps described on this site http://www.seat61.com/India.htm#book...from%20outside
