This seems to happen from time to time. Give it another go in 2 or 3 hours.

The problem basically is that your computer talks to Cleartrip's which talks to IRCTC's which talks to the Indian Railways computerised booking system.

If you want a good laugh try working out something on http://www.indianrail.gov.in/ It's no wonder things go wrong. A few weeks ago IRCTC proudly announced that 73% of attempted bookings on their system actually get completed. You do the maths.
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

Thanks again Dave. You're a great help.

As I have gotten through the verified by visa stage twice now I'm guessing that there are no problems with my synched accounts and that I am registered with both parties.

So the two bookings I have made as tests will either be
1) confirmed, (and then I can cancel) or
2) not be confirmed and the refund will just come through.
If I do nothing else regarding these two bookings will Cleartrip continue to try and confirm them?

My experience has always been that they don't confirm and get refunded in these situations.

Did you ever get it to work? I just finally booked a successful test reservation. I feel like I've just given birth.

I can share that sentiment wholeheartedly and my only modification would be that "I feel like I've just given BERTH"

repeated IRCTC account activation problem

Like others on here, im going around in circles trying to get my Cleartrip and IRCTC accounts activated and synched.

I had no problem getting an IRCTC account opened, a Cleartrip account opened and i then easily went through the stages of emailing a copy of my passport and receiving an email OTP and getting my mobile verication code emailed to me. Going through the Cleartrip website i havent been able to get my IRCTC account activated though - i keep getting error messages.

The IRCTC staff on their email care line keep saying to ignore cleartrip and that i need to first activate my account through their website, not Cleartrips. Has anyone done it this way, and can anyone tell me where to find it on their website? When i click on their link in the first IRCTC welcome email they sent me on registering, giving me a User ID and password, it just takes me to the IRCTC website homepage. All i can find on the homepage is where to change my User Profile, not where to activate the account. The customer care people seem to ignore my emails every time i ask them how exactly to activate my account on their website!

If i try to activate the IRCTC account through the Cleartrip website i get the IRCTC activation boxes but then when i put in my Cleartrip and IRCTC IDs, my mobile and email OTPs i always get a message that the mobile OTP is invalid.

I have followed previous advice on here, checking that my mobile number etc are the same on both websites; ive even reregistered afresh with IRCTC and used a different email address, but keep getting stuck trying to get the OTPs to work and my account activated.

This is really frustrating as its 4 weeks till i travel and really want to get a few train journeys prebooked.

Can anyone here recommend how/where on the IRCTC website i can activate my account, or get around this problem? thanks..

As I recall all you need to do to activate your IRCTC account is to log into it. Have you tried this?

Hi,

thanks for that. Ive just logged in to my IRCTC account again, just to check i can - its not clear whether or not my account is activated by doing this, but perhaps i should assume it is?

In which case im still stuck as to why i cant activate/sunch my accounts through the IRCTC email links or Cleartrip website boxes when i try to book a train. I just keep getting mobile OTP not valid, even though its the only mobile verification code i have and im using the latest email OTP ive been sent. Ive also tried using Firefox rather than Internet Explorer as a browser.

How hard can they make this process?

Somewhere down the line you should have got an e-mail from IRCTC headed SUCCESSFUL REGISTRATION. I haven't got my copy handy right now but go down the page and there is a link called something like Partner Verification.

Hi my husband is having the same problems, he's tried registering 3 times with different email addresses, where it asks for pin/post code, he just added 6 random numbers as advised on cleartrip. Still no luck, he has since sent a copy of his passport to them, as requested?. I'm thinking of registering myself now, will any Indian address do, could i gie the address of one of the hotels we have booked. Do I need to use the whole address or just the post code and use my uk address, It's so confusing. Any help appreciated, we've missed all the good classes on the train and now left with SL, not that we mind, just worried they're going to sell out soon too.

You've managed to choose a very old thread here. I have had great success using 110004 (indian president'r residence. It's not as if they are going to mail you anything.

There's a lot more here Solving problems with IRCTC/Cleartrip registration

If you need more help respond on that thread and you will get replies.
