@madsm:

your mistake is you are re-logging on and entering your inforamtion into cleartrip.com. DONT DO THIS. I think it resets your information.

Use the link in the e-mail IRCTC gave you with the registration information and then type in the stuff from there. don't go back to cleartrip.com.

as i said before, it is a mess, but i feel like i accomplished something

I sent of a scan of my passport to irctc & they said it never arrived; is it possible that by hotmailing it they are not able to open up the scan. It was scanned & mailed to me & I then sent it on. Any ideas.
Thanks,
Homerus.

@ sam 78a

when you say click on the link in the email from IRCTC, do you mean the one that says:

In order to Verify for partner website and Activate your account please Click Here

Because when i click on the it takes me to this site:
http://www.cleartrip.com/trains/irctc/account/activate

And when i fill in the fields on this webpage I just get an error saying that the mobile OTP is not valid. IRCTC say they won't send me a new one and that it is...

Yes, I get exactly the same madsm. I am successfully registered for IRCTC but 2 weeks 5 emails and same response each time! I have cut and paste some of the responses from those that have succeeded but still no luck, is it the cricket?
Old India Hand has recommended a fee-less Qantas Amex card for Aussies and I am thinking that is the way I'll have to go.

AMEX payment details

I'm trying to book through IRCTC with my AMEX card. Please can somebody tell me what they have put in the zip/post code box? My AMEX is registered to a UK address with a 7 digit code. The box will only accept 6. Should I just put 123456?? Does it even matter?

Thanks

I have had success by putting in the first 6 digits of my UK postcode.
The inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

mmmmm.. I've had an account with both IRCTC and Cleartrip for the past three years. I've just managed to get them to send me a mobile verification code after sending a passport screenshot.

My account is not a new one so I haven't had an email from IRCTC with an email OTP and I haven't been sent a link to 'In order to Verify for partner website....'

I don't want to mess this up but I'm not sure what to do for the best - how should I now try to link the accounts - any advice from somebody in the same boat who's made this work?

I was in India when all of this blew up and had an Indian mobile phone number so went through the process in an attempt to sync my Cleartrip account with IRCTC. The outcome was that I finished up with a second IRCTC account - not what I set out to do.

My original IRCTC account will still work with AMEX and I think that I am going to settle for that until the next great upheaval. The advantage of IRCTC as opposed to Cleartrip is that it actually lists all IR trains as opposed to just most of them.

In the UK it is pretty easy to get a no-fee Amex. Try Sainsburys.

Will the IRCTC account work if you input your user name and password? have you tried going through the booking process as far as the point where it asks you to pay?

I agree that it's not funny but I can't think what else to suggest.
