Side upper, side lower and an upper berth would give good flexability, as long as 2 persons didn't mind the short side berths for sleeping.

Thats good and what I have booked.
I have booked and got the return journey says w6/7/8 for us 3 but there is another train going at the same time to my destination do you think I should book that and see if its confirmed or just stick with the wait list I have got. We have about 4 weeks to go? I have read all that about waitlist...mind boggling ha ha

No, stick with the ticket you have, the other train starts it's journey in Dibrugarh (upper Assam) and regularly gets held up by criminal elements, the bullet holes in the sides of the carriages also make the train draughty.

I was being sarcastic as I've completely run out of different ways of asking "What Train", "What date" and other such questions. (and without those details, it's not possible to answer such questions).

Have you checked for availability on train 7603?

I doubt there'll be any given the date.

On the basis I can cancel one I have booked both trains and got
W2 for the other one.
I will look each day and see what happens.

I just assumed that I had been such a pest with all this everyone would know where we are going and when..... Sorry and thanks for the train info ...I hadnt even heard of waitlists before I booked my ticket.

Dumb Question Maybe

I have an upper bunk reserved in sleeper class for Dec. 11, 2008 on Lichchavi Exp. (Delhi-Varanasi). This will be my first train journey ever in India. It is my understanding that that gives me (and me only?) full and sole use of that upper bunk for the entire length of my journey, whether it be daytime or night. Is that correct? So what do I do (what have others done) if and when I find that someone else is up there in my bunk and I want to get up there? Does this kind of bunk-theivery happen? Does this happen often? I'm sorry. I really hate confrontational situations. So do I ask the person to get out of my bunk? Do I get the TTE? (I don't speak Hindi, either. So if the passenger doesn't speak English, that could be a problem). Oh boy.

Dear Chad,

If so desire, you can sleep on your Upper Bunk from Delhi to Varanasi. Nobody is supposed to disturb you!!!!
---
If you want to sit, you can come down and sit down against your Berth Number.

Dear Chad,

By the way, your train will be stopped at a wayside station and you will get overtaken atleast by Four Rajadhanis, before you hit Kanpur. It is a treat to watch, don't miss it.

Thanks for the heads-up!! I will be on the lookout for that!! But still, what to do in the slight chance that someone nests themselves in my bunk? I just tell them to kindly remove themselves? Does this ever happen?
