Shatabdi Express - Bangalore to Mysore

Hi there,

I've been reading the posts and am really confused about the train system...

I arrive July 3 at 1am in Bangalore airport. I'd like to take the Shatabdi Express (Train #2007) from Bangalore City Junction to Mysore, which leaves Bangalore at 11am.

Do I need to book a ticket ahead of time? Does anyone know if these tickets generally sell out? I'd rather not have to deal with the online registration system, but I want to make sure I have a spot on the train, too!

I've also been reading stuff about platform tickets and things like that and I'm a bit confused? Do I need a platform ticket and a train ticket? Do I need to buy a ticket for a train AND make a seat reservation?

It would be better if you book tickets in advance. As of today there are tickets available on both 1A (29 seats) and CC (186 seats). The Shatabdi Express (Train # 2007) starts from Chennai and goes till Mysore. It may be full as it is frequently used route.
There is no need to buy a platform ticket if you are travelling by train from one place to another.
If you get a confirmed ticket for 1A or CC it will be for a reserved seat.

Sorry, what is the difference between 1A and CC?? Also, how far in advance am I required to arrive prior to a train departure? I'm assuming I just take my luggage (just a backpack and handbag) on with me...

1A is the premium a/c sleeper - CC is aircon. chair class - imagine aircraft type seats - fine for day journeys. I'd advise being on the platform 30 minutes before departure. Yes, you carry your luggage on.

Its a 3 hours journey by Bus from Bangalore.You can easily board a AC VOLVO which are at every hour form Bangalore Bus Stand.

You can board a AC VOLVO form Bangalore airport to Bangalore Bus Stand, where you cab get Bus for Mysore at any time of Day.

Journey by Bus is very safe and comfortable.Still its your preference, but this is what almost all people do, either they take a Bus or Car to Mysore.
