Samjhauta Express
For those interested, here's a link which provides interesting photographs of the "inaugural" run of the Samjhauta Express from Pakistan to India on January 15 this year :

SHIMLA, i heard that tickets for Delhi-Lahore train trip are REALLY expensive (in the area of EUR200 for A/C dunno which class). that seems to be far beyond the budget of a middle class Indian... is that true?

I can't find any info on the Indian Railways site, the Northern railways website or in April's Indian Bradshaw (should have info for every train).
The train from Delhi to Atari should only have Sleeper class (less than Rs 250) and second class (less than Rs 150). Original info about train from Northern Railways website. |

I think i read about the trains Delhi - Lahore in one of the Indian newspapers, when i was there, and it quoted fares. I thought (then) that the idea was to find the closest competitor - airlines - and price accordingly. bearing in mind that there are no flights Delhi - Lahore yet (are there?) so ppl would have to fly via Islamabad.

I found a link which says that the train is the cheapest mode of transport between India(Attari) and Pakistan(Lahore). It does give an idea of the fare too :
