I have booked 2 seats from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer 3A (DLI JSM Express) on Jan 3 (departing 6.45am). On my booking form it says 'RLWL 1' for myself and 'RLWL 2' for my partner.

When I check on the irctc website - it nows says 'W/L 1' and 'W/L 2'.

Does this mean I am any closer to getting a confirmation? And how long should I wait for confirmation before I seek alternative transport?

Cheers Whippet

Hi whippet
I'm bumping this up for you. I'm sure one of the knowlegeable rail IMers will be on-line soon. From previous threads, the gurus have usually said that WL1 or WL2 means that your are number 1 and 2 on the wait-list, usually with a very good chance of getting a confirmed booking in the last few days when a number of people may change their plans and cancel confirmed tickets. But over to others who really know about these things .....

Dear Whippet,
Your observation:-
""I have booked 2 seats from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer 3A (DLI JSM Express) on Jan 3 (departing 6.45am). On my booking form it says 'RLWL 1' for myself and 'RLWL 2' for my partner.""
=================
@@@RLWL means Remote Location Waiting List which is applicable when a Passenger intends to get into the Train from an Intermediate Station and wishes to travel upto Terminating Station of the Train.
--------------
@@@Most Unfortunately, the Web Site DOES NOT DIFFERENTIATES between Waiting List and Remote Location Waiting List (RLWL)/Pooled Quota Waiting List (PQWL)/Request Waiting List (RQWL)/Duty Pass Waiting List(DPWL/applicable only to Railway Employees when they travel on their Privilege Pass).
==============
Only for Short Distance Trains which run overnight, you will find only WAITING LIST.
----
But all the long Distance Trains are obsessed with RQWL/RLWL/RQWL, particularly these will be applicable to those passengers who would like to get into the Train from an Intermediate Station.
===============
So, when anybody sees the WL in the Web Site, first of all check-up the Total Quota from (a) Originating Station to Terrminating Station and also (b) from the Intermediate Station to any other Intermediate Station/Terminating Station - definitely both will be different.
----
@@@When the Total Quota under (b) gets exhausted, the RLWL will commence. As I have already explained earlier, the chances for confirmation of those in RLWL will be against:
(i) cancellations from out of the confirmed bookings took place in the Intermediate Station-Terminating Station Quota;
and/or
(ii) cancellations from out of confirmed bookings under Originating Station-Intermediate Station or short of Intermediate Station; from where the passenger under RLWL intends to get into the train.
============================== ==
But, dear Whippet, you have fair chances for confirmation, since a large chunk is expected to get down in Jodhpur itself.
=====================
Please see this:-

hi VSP.

thanx about helping me earlier about my change of boarding station query a few days back. i got the needfull done. but i need to ask u 1 question again plz.

iam travelling from coimbatore to tirupati(kerala express)..2AC

when i made the reservation the status was (a month back)-

Passenger 1 W/L 3 ,RLGN Confirmed
Passenger 2 W/L 4 ,RLGN W/L 1
Passenger 3 W/L 5 ,RLGN W/L 2

But now trains current availibilty status on the same day ,between the same stations (cbe to tpty)is..

WL 29/WL 21

Thus i presumed that my tickts have been confirmed. BUT to my surprise when i checked my pnr , the status of my ticket was exactly the same as it was at the time of booking...and i am still on waiting list

iam confused..plz clear my confusion

thnx in advance

It doesn't matter how many people join the queue behind you, or how many of those behind you then leave the queue, those people won't get you closer to the front of the queue, only cancellations from people in front of you will help your position improve.

sir,
I have booked a train ticket on AC 2 tyre on train no.9005 from Ahmedbad to Dwarka. But unfortunately out of six members of our group only one berth is confirmed and rest of the tickets are RL WL 1 to RL WL 5. since one sit is confirmed I can board at the train as the booking clerk said to be. But here is some doubt about the ticket to me . If one seat is confirmed and others are not confirmed in our group ,can we travel in this train in waiting list; please help me in this regard.
