Reserved ticket for another train ( general class)

Hi... can anyone tell me that whether i can use reserved ticket for another train (not for reserved compartments but for general) if my first train get delayed and i miss my second train........

i am planning to travel from new delhi to vijayawada(Tirupati) by T.N exp (reaching vija.. at 12 :15 am) and then boarding padmavati exp ( departs vijayawada at 12:40am) for Tirupati.

However, i am aware of the fact that there is kerala exp. from delhi, but this train departs in the morning from delhi and i dont want to waste my night in delhi so thought of saving time and choose T.Nadu exp..

...

waiting for suggestions....

The Chennai Rajdhani would be the best option, but only runs on Wednesdays and Fridays.

The GT express gives you a better chance of making the connection.

Have you considered a direct train from Delhi to Renigunta? (about 20 Kms from Tirupati)

I think your reserved ticket will allow you to travel on a leter train in unreserved 2nd class, it would be a mean ticket man that wouldn't allow it.

But Gt leaves delhi aroung 6:30 pm.... and it will be better for me to catck T.Nadu exp at 10:30 pm.

Kerala express goes directly to renigunta but that departs at 11:30pm so cant go by that tarin (office problem...)

Dear Mr.Nirola,

If you have a Reserved Ticket in a particular train, you MUST INVARIABLY travel only by that Train.

But if you are having a through ticket, say New Delhi to Tirupati, with reservation upto BZA by 2622 and onward reservation by 2764, and if you miss 2764, then after obtaining required endorsement/permission from TTE on the Platform, you can perform journey in another connecting train either in reserved coach or unreserved coach. By chance, if you secure reserved accomodation in the next train, then you are liable to pay the Reservation Fee (**but not SFSC if it happens to be a SFE) (or) you can very safely travel in the Unreserved Coach of the "next available train".

But all this is possible, only if you have a through ticket. If you are NOT having through ticket, as desribed above, then you have to cancel the 2764 Ticket and purchase a fresh ticket.

By the way, 2622/2764 is the most risky affair which you could have avoided!!!

Hi ..... i reserved my tickets as below:-

-wednesday night T.N. Exp (upto vijayawada) 2622 departs from delhi

-thursday/ Friday night reaching vijayawada 00.25 am

Friday early morning 2670 gangakaveri upto Gudur (though i have to get our ticket reserved upto Chennai as was not getting reservation upto Gudur) 2.50 am

reaching Gudur 7.20 am from there by bus or train dont know?

Now my concerns are if 1) TN exp reaches Vijayawada on time can i board Padamavati exp (direct to Tirupati) general class AND

2) what is the best way to reach Tirupati from Gudur.

on Saturday we will have our Darshan in the morning.

and will do some shopping in chennai the same day i am thing of going to Thanjuvr by 6177 rock fort exp, reaching early morning at Thanjvur i.e Sunday but i have my air ticket booked from chennai to delhi on Monday early morning 5 am.... 3) so need your help for finding way out to reach chennai airport from Tiruchirapali/Thanjuvr....

There is no convenient direct train in the morning from Gudur to Tirupati.
Its a distance of 93 km only, and the trains take 1 hour 45 min at the minimum.
It would be best to make this journey by bus or taxi.

Having made your onward reservation by 2670, now you cannot travel even in the Unreserved Coaches of 2764 & if you cancel your onward reservation, your reservation by 2622 also would get cancelled.

The 2670 arrives in Gudur at 7.20 hrs.

The 439 Ongole-Tirupati passenger arrives in Gudur at 9.15 hrs./departs at 9.17 hrs. and reaches TPTY at 11.45 hrs.

Now, I know you will get another doubt. What if, if the 2670 gets delayed by more than 2 Hours. Even then you need not worry.

Why would you want to waste 2 hours waiting for a passenger train, that is liable to be running late?
I believe the direct bus to the temple town would be your best option.

Dear Mr.Sanjay,

Perhaps, you will be interested to know that 440 Passenger departs from Ongole at 5.15 hrs. and arrives in Gudur at 9.15 hrs., and it runs on a Fully Electrified Double and is given a WAM.4.

The chances for late-running of 440 are very remote, whereas the arrival of 2670 at 7.20 hrs. in Gudur itself is doubtful????

I suppose VSP has a point, and it sounds interesting to Sanjay too.

VSP i had separate ticketrs for TN Exp and Gangakaveri Exp totally separate tickets ... so cancelling one will not effect other (i know i made a mistake by not getting the through ticket .... )

I am travelling from delhi on 21st feb reaching Tirupati 23 feb having Darshan 24 feb Saturday and back flight 26 feb monday morning.... sorry for not mentioning that earlier...... So know i can get a refined solutions for my 3 queries..... Thanks

Flight is at 5:35 and we are flying by GO AIR....

Just one concern we would like to leave Thanjuvr late in the day as it would not be possible, i think, for us to all the places in Thanjuvr, and Tiruchirapali... so can u suggest some other alternative so that we can reach Chennai airport early in the morning around 3-4 am either by Train or Road.... Thanks

I have never visited Thanjavur. :-)

But, if you take 6178 Rockfort Link, it will reach Tambaram at 4.15 hrs. and from Tambaram, the Airport, which is 10 Kms. away, can be reached within 30 Minutes, but all said & done, this is somewhat a risky affair.

I feel you have to take a Direct Bus to Madras departing from Thanjavur around 16hrs./17hrs. so that you can get down just before the Airport Entrance.
